Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between raising money on CrowdRise and raising money on GoFundMe?

Raising money for a charity on CrowdRise means that you are setting up a fundraiser to benefit a charitable organization (e.g. Red Cross, UNICEF, your local USO chapter). Raising money for a person or group on GoFundMe means that you are setting up a fundraiser to benefit medical bills, tuition, accidents, emergencies, sports teams, etc.

What does it cost to fundraise on CrowdRise?

CrowdRise has the lowest pricing of any fundraising site. Which means more of the money you raise goes directly to your charity. Plus, on CrowdRise, there are no goal requirements or fundraising deadlines. Gets no better.

And just in case you aren’t sure if CrowdRise is the right place for you, we have the most ridiculously amazing customer service you’ll ever experience. We won’t sleep until you raise more money than you ever thought possible. We may sleep a little but we won’t feel good about it.

How does my cause get the money I raise?

If you’re raising money for a charity on CrowdRise, the money will go directly to your charity. You don’t need to do anything. We take care of issuing the receipts for tax purposes and we make sure the funds get to the charity quickly. CrowdRise is trusted by the finest charities in the world, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, Clinton Global Initiative, USO, March of Dimes.

If you want more specific info on exactly how funds get delivered to charities, here goes: donations are processed by either Network for Good or WePay. Both are PCI Level 1 (that’s the best) secure credit card processing services. The charity you’re raising money for has the option to use either WePay or Network for Good. WePay sends funds to charities in real time. Network for Good sends payments to charities on the 15th of each month that includes all the donations made in the previous month. So, for example, they’d get a check on November 15th or for the donations processed in October.
