A cool start to Sunday, but with the mist, fog and frost soon clearing. Sunny in the morning, but the sunshine is likely to be more hazy in nature during the afternoon, with some clouds in places. Fresh along the south and east coasts, with temperatures of 11 or 12 C., in moderate to fresh easterly winds, but warm elsewhere, with highs of 15 to 17 C., best of all in western areas.

Outlook

Monday: The dry settled weather continues into the start of next week with many places continuing to have good sunshine through the day. Southeasterly winds will freshen slightly and that will keep it cooler along eastern and southern coasts with highs of 11 to 13 degrees. But temperatures over the western half of the country will rise up to around 15 or 16 degrees in the bright sunshine. During the evening and night outbreaks of showery rain will develop over Munster and gradually spread northwards.Tuesday: A rather cloudy day with scattered outbreaks of rain, but good dry periods too. Moderate southerly breezes and highs of 12 to 14 degrees.Wednesday: Further outbreaks of rain, turning heavy in many western counties during the day. Further heavy falls of showery rain overnight.Rest of the week: Unsettled with rain at times.

Forecast for Irish coastal waters from Howth Head to Roches Point to Loop Head and the South Irish Sea

Wind: Northeast force 3 to 5, increasing east to northeast force 4 to 6 and gusty on Sunday morning - winds will be strongest along the south coast, between Carnsore Point and Valentia. Winds will decrease easterly force 3 to 5 Sunday evening and early Sunday night.
