Benjamin Sherman "Scatman" Crothers (May 23, 1910 – November 22, 1986) was an American actor, singer, dancer and musician known for his work as Louie the Garbage Man on the TV show Chico and the Man, and as Dick Hallorann in the Stanley Kubrick film The Shining in 1980. He was also a prolific voiceover artist, and provided the voices of Meadowlark Lemon in the animated TV version of The Harlem Globetrotters, Jazz the Autobot in The Transformers, the title character in Hong Kong Phooey, and Scat Cat in the 1970 animated Disney film The Aristocats.
Crothers was born in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1910. He was the son of Benjamin Crothers and Donnie/Donel. He got the name Scatman when he auditioned for a radio show in 1932 at the former WSMK (now WING) in Dayton, Ohio. The director didn't think his given name was catchy enough, so Crothers quickly concocted the handle Scat Man, although this talent, scat singing, would develop later. He continued to enjoy this talent throughout his career, even teaching scat singing to college students. Later, the nickname was condensed to Scatman by Arthur Godfrey. In his early career, he also associated with many Cleveland-based acts and frequently played on the scene in Ohio.

When I saw the new Aesop Rock album length video was a shot for shot remake of Kubrick's 'The Shining' I kept wondering how the original audio would sync up with the video. I didn't touch a frame of the original edit, I edited the sound to the video -syncing up as many moments with the sound effects and relevant dialogue given the time constraints. If I cut out your favorite line I'm sorry -though if it pops into your mind it's like it was actually there anyway. The 80s had a special set of wild and imaginative films that helped shape the dreams (and nightmares) of a generation. Pulling from Rod Serling's 1960s television show of the same name "Twilight Zone: The Movie" looked to bring the series to the big screen. Featuring four fantastic directors: Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, John Landis and George Miller, this sci fi/horror/dark fantasy anthology takes us from the most innocent of wishes to the most vile traits of human nature in four segments. Despite real life tragedy while filming the movie and a less-than-desired response from the public in 1983, the Twilight Zone movie grew in popularity over the years through cable and VHS/DVD releases. It has a cult following and has added to the cultural lexicon with lines like "You wanna see somethi...

I went down to St. James Infirmary
Found my baby there
Stretched out on a long white table
Lookin' so cool, so pale and so fair
Let her go, let her go, God bless her
Wherever she may be
She can search this wide wide world over
But she would never find a good man like me
When I die bury me in straight trousers
Boxback coat, yes, and a Stetson hat
Hang a thousand dollar gold piece on my watch chain
So the boys will know that I died standing pat
I want sixteen, sixteen stalwart white horses
Yeah
Let her go, let her go, God bless her
Wherever she may be
She may search this wide world over
