A man will face charges including causing death by dangerous driving after an Adelaide pedestrian died in hospital, two days after an alleged hit-and-run in the CBD.

The accident happened in the early hours of Saturday in Pulteney Street, between North Terrace and Rundle Street.

Police said the 33-year-old victim, from suburban Glenside, died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Monday from injuries he sustained in the crash.

Officers alleged the driver of a Ford Territory failed to stop after the incident and said they later seized the abandoned vehicle in Hindmarsh Square, not far from where the crash happened, for forensic examination.

Police said they later went to a property at Parkside and arrested a 29-year-old man, who will face charges of driving without due care, leaving the scene of an accident where someone was injured, and a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

Crash investigators are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and hope to speak with two men they are aware were nearby at the time of the crash.
