Brent Boyd is a former American football offensive guard and an advocate for retired football players. He is considered by many to be the "father" of the concussion awareness issue due to his three US Congressional testimonies and media crusade to fight for proper treatment of NFL retirees, their wives and families, and all people who suffer from traumatic brain injuries.
Boyd founded the groundbreaking historic advocacy group DIGNITY AFTER FOOTBALL, which is a leading voice in all NFL retiree issues and now for any sufferers and families of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). (https://www.facebook.com/groups/DignityAfterFootball/ )
Boyd coined a phrase that would become the major slogan for NFL retiree's fight against the NFL and the players union NFLPA when he told the U.S. House Judiciary that the NFL/NFLPA's stategy to deal with aging retirees with health problems or legal battles with the NFL was " DELAY, DENY, AND HOPE THEY DIE!"
Brent Boyd now resides in Reno, Nevada, and is considered one of Reno's most "notable" residents.

Brent Boyd played guard for the Minnesota Vikings for six seasons. During that time he sustained multiple concussions and has since become a leading advocate for treatment of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) among retired NFL players. Retired athlete, Marcellus Wiley played as a defensive end during his career in the NFL and during those times he has admitted to receiving a few concussions. With Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) being widely recognized in athletes who have succumbed to erratic behavior and memory loss following repeated concussions. In recent times, there have been instances within athletes who had the same symptoms, which led to unfortunate outcomes. One, in particular, is the death of Junior Seau who was suffering from a degenerative brain disease before taking his life. The football veteran died from a self-inflicted gun wound to the chest, which Marcellus Wiley believes was to preserve his brain for CTE research. "I had seen him maybe four months before that in San Diego at his restaurant event...

Dorsett talks about feeling effects of CTE after football
Watching me fall
Into the flames
Of a broken soul tonight
No stone overturned
This graveyard of mine
Allows me no peace
[Chorus]
Sleep as day dies
Sleepwalk with the dead
Wander aimlessly through the night
Love and regret
Course through my veins
As I slowly fade away
Please let me sleep
Just one last night
Before I must wake
[Chorus]
And I walk with these ghosts
And I walk with these ghosts
And I walk with these ghosts...
[Chorus]
Sleep as night falls
Sleepwalk with the dead
Hope keeps me alive
