Richard Wilkins has been romantically linked with Eva Mendes in what must be one of the most unlikely celebrity couples since Mariah Carey and James Packer.
It's been rumoured that the Today entertainment editor, 62, and the Hollywood actor, 42, enjoyed a brief fling after meeting on numerous red carpets down through the years and his son, Christian Wilkins, 21, seemed to put the speculation to bed when he appeared on KIIS FM with Kyle Sandilands and Jackie "O" Henderson this week.
"Who's that girl that he dated? It was a secret, a movie star," Sandilands asked.
"Eva Mendes," Jackie O said.

"What's the go with that?" shock jock Sandilands asked.
"I didn't even actually realise it was public knowledge, so there you go," Christian replied.
Nine have since claimed Christian was joking.
Mendes has been in a relationship with La La Land's Ryan Gosling since 2011. They have two daughters together.
The Channel Nine lothario likes to keep his love life to himself, but has most recently been linked to The Block's Suzi Taylor.
