La Peña 2nd Generation (2nd Gen) is a group of young people who represent the communities of the Bay Area (and beyond) and want to support and promote La Peña Cultural Center.

The 2nd Gen formed in November 2010, beginning with 8 members who represented the children of the founders of La Peña as well as folks who grew up around the center. Since our founding we have grown to more than 12 active members, produced over 50 programs, and brought to light the importance of La Peña. The Center has a mission for social justice, unique to most venues in the Bay Area (perhaps even the nation), with a world view that highlights the importance of acting locally and thinking in a global way.

La Peña is important to 2nd Gen because it offers a venue for diverse communities to gather, share, grow, and most importantly impact the communities around us in a positive way.

We hope to see La Peña grow into the 21st century, and beyond, and for you to actively engage with us so that we can represent YOU and the communities around us.

La Peña 2nd Gen’s mission

La Peña Second Generation is dedicated to the promotion and sustainability of La Peña Cultural Center and its mission. By fostering new progressive ideas, actions, and events we strengthen La Peña’s role as a bay area hub of art and social justice.
