  3. It’s official: 4.38 40 at the combine for Shaquem Griffin. Making history. Also official: he’s a beast.

  4. List of every defensive player at the NFL combine to weigh at least 225 lbs and run a sub 4.4 40 (since at least 2000): Shaquem Griffin /end list Griffin is 227 lbs & ran an unofficial 4.38 in the 40.

  5. Agree with this concept, but Bortles was 18/23 (78%), 9.8 YPA, 121.9 rtg and a 68% success rate thru 3 qtrs. The Jags didn’t beat NE because of their 4Q play calling ➡️

  6. Flip side of this to consider: Zimmer has never had to design his defense around an extremely QB$-heavy team cap structure.

  7. If Zimmer gets Cousins it will be a rare pairing of a good QB in his prime. Zimmer has primarily worked with cheap & inefficient QBs. •If Zimmer's defense receives min 86 rtg & over 7.0 YPA, his teams ALWAYS make the playoffs •Kirk has ALWAYS topped both each yr as a starter.

List of all RBs at the NFL combine to weigh over 225, sub-4.5 40 & at least a 38-inch vertical (since 2000): Saquon Barkley /end list Barkley DESTROYED those measures away, with an OFFICIAL 4.40 40, 41-inch vertical at 233 lbs.

3rd & 1, just outside FG range, DB with 10 yds cushion, Peppers 20 yds deep. By the time Peppers identifies the run, reacts and begins pursuit, he’s unable to close the distance and make a tackle before the 1 yard line.

Sean Taylor was a prodigy & truly was an Angel back there. He was a joy to watch.

Wow. This is blatantly awful, even for the Browns.

Maybe instead of asking "who" is the Angel, they could have analyzed their performance early in the season, as the pass defense was getting sliced despite playing an easy sked of pass offenses, and tried to adapt their original plan to find a better solution to stop opposing QBs.

Williams to reporter: "Let me ask you this: who do you else you want to put back there? Nobody else. [Reporter inaudible response] No! No no no nope nope. You haven't been watching practice. You've been over there yick-yacking when we're practicing. So no. Nope."

You have a scheme where a DC mocks a reporter & then tells him he's using a defense where the "Angel covers everybody else up", talking bold thru 2 games because they prevented deep passes. As the season played out, the Angel didn't cover up anything, pass D was bad deep & short.

I am not suggesting the Browns defensive scheme is the sole culprit for a horrible season. Their offense deserves more than its share of the blame as well, and in time, I'll break it down further. But travel back to the 2 videos earlier in this thread...

    6) I can only imagine how deflating it would be to be a Browns player, trying to get one win (any win). Yet in almost every key moment of a game, you give up either huge chunk plays, or a death by a thousand cuts with shorter, completed passes, in part thanks to this scheme.

    5) While the Browns went 0-16, not all of these games were blowouts. I tried to illustrate settings beyond the 6 games they lost by less than a TD - games which the Browns were hanging into the 2nd half & the 4th quarter before losing.
