About FRINGE WORLD

1. What is FRINGE WORLD?


FRINGE WORLD is a summer celebration held in in Perth, Western Australia during the city's buzzing summer festival period. The 2017 FRINGE WORLD Festival will be held from 20 January to 19 February.

FRINGE WORLD is the largest annual event in Western Australia and the third largest Fringe in the world. Yep, Perthians really love their Fringe!

The annual program of events is all about big variety and offering something for absolutely everyone. The line up includes comedy, circus, free and family entertainment, theatre, visual arts, music and musicals, dance and cabaret presented by Western Australian artists along with performers from all over the world.

The 2016 FRINGE WORLD Festival played host to 713 events at 159 venues and performance spaces spread across Perth and further afield in local communities and neighbourhoods. The Festival recorded ticketed attendance of 349,841 which delivered $8.3 million in gross box office returns to artists.

FRINGE WORLD Festival is produced by Artrage Inc, a Not-For-Profit cultural organisation and charity that has been at the forefront of enriching and evolving the creative arts and culture of Western Australia since 1983.

FRINGE WORLD has been running since 2011 and the next Festival will be held from 20 January to 19 February 2017.

Tickets for the 2017 Festival are available from this website from 8 December 2016.


2. Who produces FRINGE WORLD?


Fringe World is produced by Artrage, a not-for-profit charitable organisation with a mission to enrich the cultural fabric of Perth and Western Australia. Artrage is Western Australia's longest running not-for-profit arts organisation established in 1983. Originating as an alternative to the Perth International Arts Festival, Artrage has evolved into a key production company supporting contemporary culture in Western Australia.

5. How can I give feedback to FRINGE WORLD?


We welcome customer feedback, comments and questions at any time! Our contact details are here.

At the conclusion of the 2017 Festival we will invite all audiences to complete our survey, which is an opportunity to provide comprehensive feedback. Key results and findings of this survey are then referred to by our team in the planning and development of future festivals. We also publish highlights from all Festival surveys in our annual Impact Report.


6. When is the 2017 Festival?


The 2017 Festival will run from 20 January to 19 February in Perth, Western Australia during the city's buzzing summer festival period.

Key Festival dates are:

  • December 6: FRINGE WORLD Friends get early access to purchase a selection of 2017 events

  • December 8: FRINGE WORLD 2017 program revealed and all event tickets on sale to the general public. FRINGE WORLD Woodside Concierge Opens

  • January 9: Fringe Central at The Perth Cultural Centre Box Office opens

  • January 20: FRINGE WORLD Festival kicks off

  • February 19: FRINGE WORLD Festival ends

8. I'm an artist. Can I perform in the Festival?


FRINGE WORLD is an open access Festival, which means that artists from anywhere in the world can register to be part of the event.

Registrations for the 2017 Festival are closed. Registrations for the 2018 Festival will occur in July 2017.

9. I'm a venue manager. Can my venue be part of FRINGE WORLD?


FRINGE WORLD is an open access Festival and there are a number of ways that Perth venues can be part of the event. Venues, like artists, need to register their interest with the Festival.

Registrations for the 2017 Festival for artists and venues are closed. Registrations for the 2018 Festival will occur in July 2017.

11. What is FRINGE WORLD Friends?


FRINGE WORLD Friends is a new subscription club that offers you a range of sweet treats to help you make the most out of the 2017 Festival.

For a subscription fee of $25.00 (inc GST) Friends receive:

  • Early access to a sample of FRINGE WORLD events. Purchase tickets to some of the hottest Fringe shows before they become available to the public.

  • 1 Skip The Line Pass. The Pass allows you to jump the queue at one event for shows at key FRINGE WORLD venues.

12. When will I recieve my lapel pin and Skip The Line Pass?


You should receive your lapel pin and Skip The Line pass within ten (10) business days. If you have become a Friend on or after 13 Jan 2017 and would like to pick up your Friends Pack email us at hello@fringeworld.com.au and you can do so from the Box Office in FRINGE Central at the Perth Cultural Centre.

If you become a Friend after 20 January you will only be able to pick up your Friends pack from the FRINGE WORLD Box Office at Fringe Central at the Perth Cultural Centre.




Gift Vouchers

13. Christmas delivery of Gift Vouchers


If you order a Gift Voucher after 5pm Monday 12 December 2016 we cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas, however you can instead purchase a Gift Voucher at the FRINGE WORLD Concierge Service. Click here for opening hours.

Alternatively, you can purchase a Digital Gift Voucher that will be emailed to the directly to the recipient!



14. What are Digital Gift Vouchers?


Digital Gift Vouchers are the fastest and easiest way to please all the people in your life this Christmas. They're the perfect option to gift your mates and family if you don't know their postal address, or if you're pressed for time and need to find a Christmas present pronto!

You buy a Digital Gift Voucher from this website and during Checkout you enter the recipient's Name, Email Address and a short message. Then, within a few minutes the recipient will receive a fun surprise in their inbox!

15. When can I purchase a Gift Voucher?


Standard FRINGE WORLD Gift Vouchers are able to be purchased online and sent to purchasers up to midnight 27 January 2017 via post. After this date standard FRINGE WORLD Gift Vouchers will only be available to purchase in person at a FRINGE WORLD Box Office up to midnight Sunday 12 February 2017 (AWST).

Digital FRINGE WORLD Gift Vouchers will also be available to purchase online up to midnight Sunday 12 February 2017.

All FRINGE WORLD Gift Vouchers are valid until 19 February 2017.



16. How do I redeem my Gift Voucher


If you been gifted a FRINGE WORLD Gift Voucher and would like to use it to pay for your Tickets, here are instructions on how to do this:

1. Add all the Tickets you wish to purchase to your Cart.
2. When you are happy with your Cart contents, click the "Go To Checkout" button.
3. Select your method of Ticket Delivery.
4. Sign in as a Customer or create a new Customer Account and then click "Continue"
5. Select method of payment: Voucher or Credit Card. You can even split payment over multiple Gift Vouchers or multiple Credit Cards or even a combination of the two.

When paying using your Gift Voucher, if the value of your Order is larger than the value of the Gift Voucher, you can pay the balance using your Credit/Debit card or another Gift Voucher.

If the value of your Order is less than the value of your Gift Voucher, your Gift Voucher will have a left over balance, which can be used as payment in a different Order.

Please note that your Gift Voucher is only valid for FRINGE WORLD Festival 2017, and therefore expires at the end of Sunday 19 February 2017.

Remember to include the dash when entering in your voucher number, for example: 25-97-8767900 or 100-16-8767900

17. When does my Gift Voucher expire?


FRINGE WORLD Gift Vouchers are valid for ticket purchases from the date of issue up to Sunday 19 February 2017.

Balances remaining on gift vouchers after this expiry date will be forfeited and are not further redeemable.




Buying, collecting and postage of tickets

18. How can I buy tickets?


Online:

Buy your FRINGE WORLD Festival 2017 tickets online from this website by browsing the program, adding event tickets to your trolley and completing the online checkout process.

Tickets purchased from this website or from a FRINGE WORLD Box Office attract a booking fee of $1 per ticket. Payments made using a credit/debit card will attract a card processing fee of $2.00 per transaction including GST.

19. What fees will I be charged when purchasing FRINGE WORLD tickets? 


Tickets purchased from this website or from a FRINGE WORLD Box Office attract a booking fee of $1 per ticket.

Payments made using a credit/debit card will attract a card processing fee of $2.00 per transaction including GST.


20. Can tickets be mailed to me?


Yes!

To receive your tickets in the mail by Christmas, we recommend placing your order by 5pm Monday 12 December.

Up until 8 January 2017, when purchasing your tickets online you may opt to have your tickets posted to you:

  • by Standard post for $3.50
  • by Registered Post for $6.50

From 9 January 2017 onwards, if you purchase your tickets more than ten (10) days in advance of the event, you may opt to have your tickets posted to you by Registered Post for a $6.50 fee.

FRINGE WORLD recommends Registered Post for trackable and sign on delivery postage.

FRINGE WORLD cannot be held responsible for tickets lost in the mail via Standard Post. Please read our ticketing T&Cs for more information.



21. Can I collect tickets from a FRINGE WORLD Box Office?


When purchasing tickets from this website choose 'Pick Up' to be able to collect the tickets from one of our FRINGE WORLD Box Offices, please click here for locations and opening times.

When collecting your order, please bring your Order Number (find it on your Order Confirmation email) and a valid form of ID such as:

  • A current Australian driver's license;
  • A current passport;
  • A current Australian learner driver permit;
  • A Western Australian Proof of Age Card or a Proof of Age card or equivalent issued in an Australian state or territory;
  • The credit/debit card you paid with to purchase the order

If you are unable to pick up the tickets yourself, you may appoint someone else to do so through a Letter of Authority.

Please fill in a Letter of Authority and the person you appoint can use this to collect tickets on your behalf. We will retain these letters as proof of collection.

If you are collecting tickets to see a show that night, we recommend that you allow at least 60 minutes in order to queue for your tickets at the Box Office and find your venue.




22. Can I collect my tickets from the venue?


During checkout online you may see 'Venue Collect' as an option. In this instance you can opt to collect your tickets from the venue within 60 minutes of the show start time. If 'Venue Collect' does not show as an option then venue collect is not available. Check your Order Confirmation for more information.

For all events on at FRINGE Central in the Perth Cultural Centre , The Pleasure Garden or Cathedral Square then you must collect your tickets from a FRINGE WORLD Box Office before your show starts.



Tips to help you choose a show

23. How to find a show


If you know the name of an event you want to get tickets to, use the Event Search on the home page or in the header.

If you just want to have a little look-see, then go to All Events. Use the Filter Search tool (located in the top right) to select search criteria such as time, date, genre, venue, hub and more. This will narrow down all the events to the ones that are relevant to you.

If you create an account and/or login, you can mark shows that catch your eye using the Favourites heart. Shows that you have “Favourited" can be viewed at a later date by clicking on the Favourites heart in the header.

Exchanges, refunds and lost tickets

25. Can I get an exchange or refund?


Before completing your purchase of tickets, please carefully review the event, date/time and venue details. Without limiting your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law, there is no right of refund or exchange on FRINGE WORLD tickets.

If an event has been cancelled you are entitled to a refund. In some cases an exchange of date between the same show may be granted, subject to availability and our terms and conditions.



26. What if my tickets are lost or stolen? 


We recommend that you treat your tickets like cash because we are unable to replace lost or stolen tickets.

If you have lost your tickets email hello@fringeworld.com.au at least 24 hours before your show time. FRINGE WORLD reserves the right not to refund lost or stolen tickets.




Concession Prices

27. Are there concession prices? 


There aren't any specific special prices for Concession cardholders with the exception of Companion Cards. Please click here for more information on Companion Card tickets.



28. Is there a special price for kids?


Some shows may have special ticket prices for children such as:

  • Kids Ticket prices - For children 12 years and under who will occupy a seat. Children ages 2 years and under are free on lap.
  • Family Ticket prices - A discounted ticket pack covering 2 Adult and 2 Children or 1 Adult and 3 Children. Please enter '4' tickets when purchasing 1 family ticket.




Venues and Seating

29. I have tickets to two shows in one night. Is there enough time for me to get from one venue to another? 


We have many different venues throughout the city so please make sure you allow yourself extra time to get from venue to venue.


30. What is the policy on latecomers?


Latecomers may not be admitted and venue management reserves the right to refuse admission at its discretion.

We encourage all patrons to arrive at least 60mins prior to show start time to allow enough time to find a find a park, collect tickets from a Box Office, find your venue then chill out for a pre-show drink or meal.


31. Can I smoke in any of the venues? 


All indoor performance areas are smoke free.


32. Can I choose where to sit when buying my ticket? 


Most seating is unreserved and is filled on a first come first serve basis when you arrive at the venue. We recommend to arrive at least 60 minutes prior to your session start time – to find a park, collect your tickets from a Box Office, find your venue and grab a pre-show drink.

For shows at the Heath Ledger Theatre, your seating will be reserved – when booking your seats to this venue you can choose your seats via the map online or choose for the best available seats to be issued to you. Your tickets will have your row and seat number on them and you will be required to sit in these seats on the night.



Age Suitability

33. I'm under 18, can I go to a FRINGE WORLD event? 


Many FRINGE WORLD venues including The Pleasure Garden and the FRINGE WORLD Orchard are licensed. In some instances, under 18's are welcome to licensed areas but must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian and the decision to allow entry is entirely at the discretion of the licensee.

Each venue can have different licensing conditions so please view the venue license rules on our website before purchasing a ticket.

Some events also have content warnings and are restricted to people aged 18 and over.

For more information regarding under 18's access to licensed areas please refer to the Liquor Control Act 1988.




34. What are the valid forms of ID when entering licensed 18 FRINGE WORLD venues? 


The valid forms of Photo ID accepted in Western Australia accepted are Passports, WA Proof of Age Cards and Australian Driver's Licenses only (i.e. the following are not accepted: student cards, foreign driver's licenses, health care cards, credit cards).

35. Age Ratings on Events


The Age Rating for each event is a guide about the content suitability for people under 18. Please check the venue page for specific licensing laws for that venue.

All Ages: Kids, parents and grandparents alike will all enjoy this event. Does not contain any sensitive content like nudity or coarse language.

Ages 5 : Events that are suitable for young children aged 5 and up.

Ages 10 : Events that are suitable for children aged 10 and up.

Ages 15 : Events that contain some adult content but are suitable for teenagers aged 15 and up.

Ages 18 (Minors may attend with a parent or legal guardian): Events that may contain nudity, coarse language, sexual references or depictions of violence are generally considered to be suitable for adults only. These events may accept minors with a parent or legal guardian permitting that the venue is not 18 only.

Ages 18 (Adults Only): Events that may contain nudity, coarse language, sexual references or depictions of violence are generally considered to be suitable for adults only.

Camera and Photography

39. Can I take photos during the show/performance? 


Only to the discretion of the performers, otherwise cameras or other photograph or recording equipment (including mobile phones) may not be permitted to use at the event.


40. Will my photo be taken at the Festival?


Your photo may be taken at a Festival event or venue. Refer to our Terms & Conditions for more information.


RushTix

41. What are RushTix?


All FRINGE WORLD tickets are great value and the average ticket price is a bargain $24. During the Festival you can also pick up extra special bargains with RushTix.

RushTix are discounted event tickets (around 50% less) and they're only available between 11am to 3pm every day during the Festival, for purchase from this website or a Box Office.

There's only ever a limited amount of RushTix available and the events with RushTix changes every day. Visit this website daily during the Fringe to see what's on offer.

Many shows do sell out before the Festival kicks off, so grab your tickets before Jan 20 to avoid FOMO.
