Saturday night the wife took me to fringe. Saw a short show called Cabaret of Curiosities. Short and... quirky with some tall tales and maybe a few fake relics but with the entry price. Then we decided to see Monkey Business at the Voodoo Lounge. My first mistake, was as an older gentleman not knowing the venue. But I will admit to having seen a strip club before.

Monkey Business was described as a adults version of Hey hey it’s Saturday. Thinking like most that this would mean some interesting but wild variety skits. The MC arrives and finally introduces us to the ‘monkey’ of the business - a person in a very poor monkey suit with overdubbed noise and no acting ability. We soon found out out our role is to tell it to f&$k off. This was followed by a naked shower screen and a few other bits of nudity. Buy close if the first half many patrons had had enough and departed. Part two at least had some funny moments and dare I say this a stubby ladie who did a terrific show.
I am not shy, as stated I have been to strip clubs before. While the ‘wildness’ indicator in the brochure was full nudity if your going to put on a show at least get the advertising to reflect what the show actually is. In this instance it was just a strip club using Fringe to bolster its profits.
