There is never a good time for web servers to fail, but today is especially bad day.

Amazon's status site reported issues -- "high error rates" -- with its East Coast S3 center and said the company was working to resolve the problems. As of writing, this issue was still impacting many of the image and website hosting and backend services that depend on the S3 web-based service.

Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
As much of the internet came to a grinding halt, conference attendees were gathered in Edinburgh, Scotland for AWSome Day, which celebrates all things AWS and highlights key features, best practices and product demos.
As you can imagine, things are not going well.
