"Arthur Person, a workingman in Rockford, Ill., was indicted under the recent act of the Illinois Legislature making it a crime to aid or assist or join a society which advocated the change or overthrow of Government by violence, etc. The case turned on the question of whether the platform and program of the Communist Labor Party advocated the overthrow of Government by force and whether the defendent knew this at the time he became a member. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty."
