Hyphen or zero[edit]
quoting section LCCN#Format
- "Serial numbers are six digits long and should include leading zeros. The hyphen that is often seen separating the year and serial number is optional. More recently, the Library of Congress has instructed publishers not to include a hyphen."
We should provide a source. In some fashion we should mention this at Help:CS1 errors#bad_lccn. Use of the optional hyphen, rather than zero, as the sixth character from right, "leading" the serial number, must commonly be what the error message "Check |lccn= value" flags.

- Using code that I don't know, we provide an official source at Category:CS1 errors: LCCN. Source url=http://www.loc.gov/marc/lccn-namespace.html#syntax
