Human Rights Adviser in Honduras

In 2010 a senior Human Rights Adviser (HRA) was deployed to Honduras, after a request was received by the Honduran government for closer engagement with OHCHR. The HRA’s main priorities include: strengthening Government institutions working on human rights issues through the provision of technical assistance; providing support to build a stronger human rights culture in Honduras, providing support to the design and implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan, as well as through support provided to civil society actors and Government authorities on the promotion and protection of human rights in alignment with international standards; and ensuring the inclusion of a human rights based approach in the work of the UN Country Team and the international community.
