Fulltime wrap: A narrow win for the Tahs. A bit hard to judge the performance with the conditions terrible. The Western Force's defence applied a lot of pressure on the Waratahs but I liked the way the Waratahs changed up their tactics in the second half, kicking for field position and not getting caught behind the gain line as was the case in the first 40.

It wasn't pretty but I am prepared to wait and see them on a dry track with Bernard Foley back in the squad before making a judgment. They do need to fix the breakdown and their scrum struggled when the first choice frontrow were not on the paddock.

Tolu Latu was outstanding, Will Skelton had some bright moments, Reece Robinson's goalkicking was essential to the win while Dean Mumm was solid.

The Force hustled and bustled like they always do but again the attacking flair was not there with the slippery conditions not helpful.

Their halves Jono Lance and Ryan Lowrens were outstanding. Dane Haylett-Petty's diamonds were mixed with some costly errors, while league convert Curtis Rona showed glimpses that he could be a handful as the season progresses.

That's it's from me. Return to RugbyHeaven for Tommy D's match report and post-match news.

Reece Robinson misses it, but the siren sounds as the ball goes dead. The Tahs hold on.

80th min: I think that's game over. Israel Folau is dumped in a tip tackle. Richard Hardwick of the Force is shown a yellow card.

Reece Robinson to wind down the clock by shooting for goal.

78th min: The Tahs scrum just held on, but the ball didn't clear. Another scrum, another Tahs feed and some precious minutes wasted.

75th min: The Force need to change their game plan as only a a converted try will do it for them. But their rolling maul 40 metres out from their own tryline, results in a scrum feed for the Waratahs.

74th min: That's five from five for Robinson. Tahs up by six. WARATAHS 19 FORCE 13.

72nd min: Jono Lance is off for the Force. He has scored all 13 of their points. The Tahs have got the scrum penalty. The last four scrums have resulted in penalties - three of them to the Force. Reece Robinson will line up for the shot.

71st min: The Tahs driving maul goes 20 metres, it needed to go two metres more, but the Force get a clearing kick away.

69th min: The chip-and-chase is back but at least it was on a penalty advantage. The Tahs have a lineout on the Force 22.

66th min: Haylett-Petty opts for the high ball and chase. He leaps as high he can but a stationary Will Skelton is still taller and he darts 20 metres up field before, before, before ... he knocks on.

65th min: One of the better attacking forays tonight. Dane Haylett-Petty puts Luke Morahan away. He is bundled into touch but a terrible kick from the lineout give the Force an attacking lineout.

63rd min: It's knock-on boulevard out there. The Force win the referee lottery and get the scrum feed and eventually the penalty.

61st min: The Tahs escape unscathed. They force the turnover and then Dane Haylett-Petty drops a doozy to put the Force under the pump.

61st min: Scrum penalty to the Force. Now it's the visitors' chance to apply the pressure.

59th min: Matt Lucas pops a kick over the top, but it rolls end-on-end into touch in-goal. Force scrum five metres inside Force turf.

Playing for field position is the right tactic, but this one back-fired.

57th min: Sloppy work at the breakdown by the Waratahs, let's the Force off the hook. Replacement half Matt Lucas too slow to get rid of the ball allowing the counter-ruck.

55th min: The Tahs' rolling maul held up hover the line. It's a five-metre scrum, with the Tahs feed.

54th min: The Force survive and get ball out but referee Ben O'Keefe is looking at some foul play. It is against Billy Meakes of the Force whose clean out on Michael Hooper was too high. O'Keefe ruled that because Hooper was falling, then the offence did not warrant a yellow card.

The Tahs opt for another attacking lineout.

52nd min: The Tahs rolling maul stops just centimetres short. The Tahs players claim the ball is on the line, the ref says it is a scrum feed to the Force.

51st min: Penalty to the Tahs. They muscled up and Tom Robertson did the damage. The Tahs opt for the attacking lineout.
