Helicopters and a police dog squad have joined the search near Gladstone for missing mother Hannah Cook.

The 25-year-old Calliope woman was last seen dropping her child off at a Gladstone CBD school about 9am on Monday and later reported missing by a friend.

Ms Cook's SUV, a 2016 Mitsubishi ASX wagon with Queensland registration 282WSI, was found by an officer on patrol on Tuesday afternoon, 30 kilometres west of Calliope near Mount Alma.

It is understood police had since included Calliope River in their search area and officers including a dog squad were searching the area surrounding her abandoned vehicle.

Police and family held concerns for her welfare as the behaviour was out of character and because she suffered from a medical condition.

Ms Cook was described as Caucasian, about 172 centimetres tall with a slim build, long dark-brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who may have seen her was urged to contact Policelink on 13 14 44 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
