Ashley Dyball released without charge

After four and half hours questioning by AFP, returning YPG volunteer Ashley Dyball has now been reunited with his family. The following are the highlights from this evening's event's at Tullamarine.

  1. Earlier this evening Keith Harding (father of YPG volunteer Reece Harding) advised friends and supporters on Facebook that:

    "Ashley Dyball is flying home via Melbourne tonight. Flight QR 904 arriving in Melbourne at 10.00pm".

  2. By 10:00pm Ashley's family, Kurdish community members, friends and other supporters had gathered at arrivals at Tullamarine to welcome Ashley home.

  3. As other passengers cleared arrivals there was no sign of or word from Ashley Dyball. It appears he was detained at by AFP upon disembarkation.
  4. There was something of a media scrum, various reports were posted by the major outlets, but there had still been no word of Ashley:

  6. As the night dragged on it became apparent that AFP genuinely didn't know which way to jump. Leading Ashley out in handcuffs was never going to look good, and his family weren't budging until he came out.
