On December 13th, 2017, pro-Palestinian groups protested outside the State Library against the statement made by President Donald Trump where he recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Hundreds of protesters gathered to protest in the heat despite knowledge that right wing pro-Israel activist Avi Yemeni had organized a pro-Israel protest to counter it, as well as to show support for the decision by Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital.

Around 20 counter proteste...rs carrying Israeli, Trump and Australian flags attempted to rally but were kept at a distance by the police, across the road from the main rally, and were kept there by police, who also were keeping the pro-Palestinian side from crossing the road.

Despite the distance, people on the edge of the pro-Palestinian side of the road yelled at the pro-Israel rally, though no one from either side managed to get close to the other and so the rallies continued peacefully and without incident.

After speeches, the pro-Palestinian rally marched around the block near Melbourne central and returned to the state library where they had more speeches and two young Palestinian men sang to finish up the rally.

Both sides disbanded without incident.

With it being 37 degrees and sunny here in Melbourne, it's going to be an interesting day with what I need to do.

A protest in the city has been called by the ..."Palestinian Community Association of Victoria and the Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid" to oppose Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and support the Palestinians, while a counter protest has been organized by "Avi Yemini" to support the recognition and support Israel.

As such "Campaign against Racism and Fascism" has organized a rally to defend the Palestinian rally and oppose Avi Yemini's protest.

So yeah, I'll be going and photographing that even though I absolutely cannot stand the heat, and last time I covered a rally in this heat I nearly fainted, but hey, guess I'll just need to properly hydrate this time.

[ This is also an alert for those who need to get around the CBD from 5:30 on wards and who'd wish to avoid being stuck in the middle of a potential clash, to avoid the State Library area. ]

Today I'll be going to photograph the rally at the State Library where the left are protesting against Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and the counter protest organized by Avi Yemini in support of Trump's recognition.

It's gonna be uncomfortable because it's going to be insanely hot today.

If you've wondered how you can support me and stuff, here's one way! [as people have asked recently]

I'm trying to get more into filming stuff and livestreaming - I wanna do it more often and start some stuff for YouTube... so, it would greatly help if I had a stabilizing gimble.

If you wanted to help, here's one way!

Who Am I? I'm Kenji Wardenclyffe, published freelance political photojournalist, i've had my photography and videos featured in various mainstream media outlets across the world, in a documentary or two, and even on nationwide television! What I Want To Do: So for the past year I've been livest...

December 4 at 10:07pm

On December 4th, 2017, controversial political commentator and former Breitbart journalist Milo Yiannopoulos visited Melbourne as part of his Australian "Troll Academy" tour.

Following the cancellation of his original venue, his talk was secretly moved to a venue in Kensington, a location which was released roughly 2 hours before the scheduled start of the event.

Left wing anti-fascist group CARF (Campaign against Racism and Fascism) who believe he is a key figure in the gr...owth of the Alt-Right and their supporters descended on the event to protest against him, calling him and his supporters Nazis and bigots.

Members of right wing, nationalist and patriot groups and individuals (TBC, Neil Erikson Avi Yemini, Blair Cottrell of the UPF) also came down to protest the left wing and defend Milo and his supporters, stating they believed the left were stifling Free Speech by trying to shut down a talk.

Scuffles broke up between left and right wing protesters throughout the evening resulting in pepper spray and at least one arrest, and as the protest continued local residents from the commission flats joined in to protest against Milo and the right.

Anyone who's waiting on my photos from the rally which took place outside the Milo Yiannopoulos talk in Melbourne - just letting you know I am currently working on them and they should be up within about an hour and a half or two hours.

UPDATE:
Tomorrow night I will be covering the rally which has been called against Milo Yianoppolis as well as the rally to defend Milo against the aforementioned rally. I won't lie to you all, I'm a bit nervous about this.
It's been a while since there's been such a potentially volatile rally in Melbourne and it does mean I'll need to take extra precautions for safety as I'm sure we're all aware how protests like this can go down here in Melbourne. My health hasn't been the ...best as of late so I'm a touch more nervous than usual in going to cover this. But hey, photography must be done!

I most likely will not be able to do any kind of livestream, so keep that in mind, as my phone is practically on its last legs and I gotta focus on photography tomorrow. I will do some 360° photos if I can, maybe some 360° video (if i feel like taking the time to upload gigs of video to youtube and facebook)

Thankfully the weather looks good for it tomorrow.

I will attempt to do live updates on Twitter, however, and will post a report back on my other page.

Over the first weekend of summer, beginning December 1st 2017, warnings were issued for Melbourne and Victoria of a potentially once in 100 years storm where up to a seasons worth of rain, 150-200mm would fall over the country in the matter of 3 days.

“Half the inhabitants of Melbourne have never ever seen anything like this,” Scott Williams, senior forecaster for the Bureau of Meteorology said of the storm.

“It is an event that poses a threat to life.”

...

SES alerts were set out via SMS to people in Melbourne, towns in the north and north east were evacuated as it began to flood. The CBD and inner suburbs missed the majority of the storm, against predictions, with only minor flooding taking place in metropolitan regions.

So I did end up doing some storm watching last night, regardless that not much happened I did manage to get some pretty good time lapses of the storms moving over the CBD.
Check them out here!
