Give your wall some love with some wonderful wall decor. If you're a fan of minimalism, you may decide to leave your walls in one block colour, without any added frills, but for the rest of us our walls can be blank canvases upon which we can hang art, photos, posters, stickers, murals, signs and cover with wallpaper. What wall decor should I chose?

If you want to make a statement, a feature wall with patterned wallpaper can often work wonders, or go all out and wallpaper the whole room if you think your room can handle the all-over wallpaper look. There are all sorts of colours, patterns and motifs to play with; simple stripes or polka dots for a subtle effect; books, bricks, wood and stone patterns for an interesting illusion; or florals and birds for a delicate touch.

If you're happy with painted walls but just want something to add character, wall stickers have become increasingly popular as makers have created easy to apply and remove decals that look like they could have been painted onto your walls. From large murals to simple bird designs and quotes, there are a great range to play around with.

Posters, prints and decorative signs can be fun ways of cheering up a wall and you can experiment with positions as much as you like (depending on your hammering/drilling skills). Prints are affordable ways of getting artwork into your home and if framed correctly, you may fool some people into thinking it's an original.

Can I use wall decor throughout the house?

There's nothing stopping you using wallpaper, wall stickers and prints in all rooms of the house, and for practical spaces like kitchens there are plenty of useful and stylish wall decorations to make use of. Chalkboards give an industrial, cafe-like or farmhouse feel and are handy for scribbling quick shopping lists or noting everyone's schedules. Notice boards and whiteboards can act as message pads and places to pin up drawings, letters, reminders, photos and any other knick-knacks. In the bathroom, artwork, wall stickers and sculptures can be fun elements to add to your walls and to gaze at while in the bath, but make sure they will survive lots of moisture before installing them.
