Meet COK's Board of Directors!

Amy Trakinski
Board Chair

Amy has worked on behalf animals for over 18 years, first with the animal law firm, Egert and Trakinski, where she litigated on behalf of national animal protection organizations, grassroots advocacy groups, and individual clients, and more recently, as Managaing Director of VegInvest, a mission-driven angel capital fund investing in early stage businesses focused on providing alternatives to the use of animals.

Amy also serves on the board of the Animal Welfare Trust and is a member of the HSUS’s New York State Council. She has been vegan for 19 years and lives in New York City with her cat, Nola, whom she rescued after Hurricane Katrina.

Steve Cucolo

Steven has been a member of board since 2005. He started volunteering with Compassion Over Killing in 1998 when he moved to Washington DC. Over the years Steven has served in different volunteer roles, including coordinating the COK factory farming exhibit on the National Mall, organizing vegan feedins, and driving COK's FaunaVision through the streets of DC. Steven has also worked as the video editor on many of the original farmed animal investigations and proveg commercials, including “45 Days” and “A Side of Truth.”

Steven has been a vegetarian since the early 1990's and a vegan for more than 20 years.

Ian Ross

Ian Ross is a longtime animal advocate who helped start The Humane League, serves as an advisor to Faunalytics, and is a founding advisor for Hampton Creek (makers of Just Mayo and other foods). He is described by Peter Singer as leading “the most remarkable example of a life committed to maximizing giving.” Ian has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his undergraduate work in math and computer science at MIT. He currently “earns to give” by working at Facebook in product analytics. Outside of work and advocacy, he enjoys running and soccer. He lives in San Francisco.

Erica Meier

Erica has served as COK’s Executive Director since 2005, after being an active volunteer starting in 2000. Since taking the helm, she’s taken the organization to new heights with continued growth and accomplishments for animals that include ending the egg industry’s use of the misleading claim “Animal Care Certified” and successfully persuading BOCA foods to stop using eggs.

Vegan for 20 years, Erica has been working in the animal protection field since college. In 2013, she was honored with the prestigious Animal Rights Hall of Fame award.
