The Seattle Mariners are hard at work preparing for the 2017 season at spring training in Peoria, Arizona, but they have to take care of some off-the-field concerns as well.

Part of the ritual of spring training involves team photo day, when players have their photos taken for use in programs, displays on the Jumbotron or baseball cards. Some of the photos capture the spirit of the "boys of summer," while others ... well, others involve players holding baseballs awkwardly in front of them for no apparent reason.

We decided to have some fun with them, taking a few of the best (?) from this year's batch of Mariners photos, and added our own captions that we think capture the essence of the shots. You can find them all in the gallery above.

Have some captions of your own you'd like to contribute? Leave them in the comments section below.
