Notorious Hollywood "frenemies" Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon had it out in a very public way at this year's Academy Awards.

Their fictional feud, which has been a comedy bit spanning years, took center stage as Kimmel, the Academy Awards host, repeatedly made fun of and sabotaged Damon at every turn throughout the night.

The recurring feud first began when Damon and Kimmel's ex-girlfriend, comedian Sarah Silverman (then still dating) made a video short documenting their "affair." In response, Kimmel made a video with Damon's longtime friend, actor Ben Affleck.

And for the Oscars, Kimmel revived the bad blood, throwing jabs at Damon throughout the ceremony, beginning three whole days before the show:

On Sunday night, Kimmel roasted Damon in his opening monologue, by joking about the flop of Damon's film, "The Great Wall," as well as the actor's weight and his work habits.

"He's a selfish person," Kimmel told the Academy Awards crowd. "Those of you who work with him know this."

Later on in the night, the Academy Awards aired a short video in which Kimmel talks about how Damon's bad acting in "We Bought a Zoo" "inspired" him.

Things didn't end there. When Damon walked out with Ben Affleck to present the award for best screenplay, Damon found himself drowned out by the orchestra every time he tried to speak. Kimmel was then shown to be below the stage, conducting the band.

But Kimmel had to throw another final jab in there at Damon's expense. Before bringing out Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty to present best picture, he made a note.

"And now it's my favorite part of the night: a chance to see Matt Damon lose an award," he added.

It seems the battle rages on.
