India v Australia: The numbers that matter from the Aussies' big Pune win

Who could have possibly seen that win coming for Australia? Not even at his most optimistic would Steve Smith have dared to predict a 333-run whomping in the first Test.

It was stunning to watch, and sets the series up for the Aussies, who are now riding the most incredible wave of momentum.

Statistically, the win was monumental for Australia. Check out the numbers that matter most.

It had been 4,502 days since Australia's last win in India, which came at Nagpur in 2004.

India's first-innings total of 105 was its lowest since 2004 in Mumbai. The second-innings tally of 107 ran that record close.

The final margin of 333 runs was India's fourth-heaviest run defeat in its history.

Steve O'Keefe's remarkable match figures of 12-70 were the 10th best in Test history by an Australian.

O'Keefe took 46 per cent of his career Test wickets in this one Test in Pune. Granted he's only played five Tests, but still.

This was Steve Smith's first Test century in India, but fifth Test century in his past five games against India.

Smith now averages 73.37 as captain, second only to Don Bradman who averaged 101.51 as skipper.

Virat Kohli's first-innings duck was his first in India.

Josh Hazlewood bowled only nine overs in this Test match. It's the first time he's bowled fewer than 18 in his Test career.
