Some of the most memorable looks from Oscars red carpet

The ceremony was for the films, but the red carpet was for the fashion

The 89th Academy Awards ceremony celebrated the best of cinema, but the Oscar red carpet was for the fashion. Here's a look at some of most memorable looks.

Sunny ways for Sunny Pawar

Eight-year-old Sunny Pawar, the child star of Lion, wore his big boy tuxedo and a big boy smile.

Ooh La La

The stars of La La Land went a bit back in time for their looks. Canadian Ryan Gosling's 70s-era ruffled dress shirt added a touch of flair to his tuxedo, while Emma Stone's flapper-like dress harkened back to the roaring 20s.

Not-so hidden figure

Despite Taraji P. Henson's performance in Hidden Figures being overlooked by the academy, her smoldering red carpet look certainly wasn't.

Dressing the part

Cast and crew from the Australia-Vanuatu film Tanna looked like they arrived straight from set. The film — a Romeo and Juliet-type love story shot on location in Tanna island in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu — is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
