Capital One Café’s “Banking Reimagined Tour” Arrives in Seattle to Transform Our Financial Lives

If we’re honest about it, few of us can claim complete confidence in our personal finances. In fact, only 29% of residents of Seattle, home to one of America’s most dynamic economies, say they feel self-assured, according to a local survey.*

Our neighbors certainly understand how we feel about our own money matters; more than four of five of us agree we’d be happier if we did experience this confidence.

Capital One is on a mission to empower people to feel more confident in their relationship with money and to help improve financial situations. Here is a glimpse at what’s ahead in Seattle:

NEW SEATTLE CAPITAL ONE CAFES

  • Bellevue (400 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004)
The new Capital One Café location in Bellevue will be approximately 7,800 sq. feet, offering 3 nooks and 2 meeting rooms for customers, neighborhood and community members/partners to utilize should they need a work or meeting space. This location will also offer four on premise ATMs.
  • South Lake Union (333 Westlake Ave, Seattle, WA 98109)
The new Capital One Cafe location in South Lake Union will be approximately 12,300 sq. feet, offering 3 nooks and 2 meeting rooms for customers, neighborhood and community members/partners to utilize should they need a work or meeting space. This location will also offer four on premise ATMs.

Employing technology to break down and reconstruct our relationships with our money is a concept whose time has come.

A state-of –the-art 54-foot trailer fully equipped to demonstrate the personal digital banking experience will arrive in Westgate Park (401 Pine St, Seattle, WA 98101) as part of the 10-city tour. The trailer will feature nine Advanced Interactive Touchscreens to guide users toward improved understanding and confidence about how they view their money. The HoloLens Augmented Reality projects 3-D real-time imagery to enliven financial goals. Finally, the Video Selfie Booths encourage users to create video time capsules that record, and demystify, personal financial goals for posterity.

Let me walk you through one…first, Café Ambassadors greet each guest, sporting apparel curated by former Project Runway contestant Shirin Askari, and order each guest a coffee via Apple iWatches, then join them on a couch—Goodbye, sterile desk! —to help open an account, apply for a credit card or complete other financial tasks.

Capital One Cafés are carefully placed to serve as community hubs in their respective neighborhoods. The inclusive neighborhood theme continues inside the Café, where you’ll find meeting rooms available for local use, a series of nooks should you care to work privately, and free Wi-Fi, a perfect complement to locally baked pastries and Peet’s coffee bar. The space is also designed to continuously evolve from the series of daily financial thoughts to an “interactive, visual-forward ethos.”

The Future Edge program has already invested more than $150 million in Skills for the 21st Century, Small-Business Development and Financial Well-Being. These funds are distributed to community partners, charities, and nonprofits that reside within the greater café environs. Capital One also devised #CapXTalks, a series of live-streamed panel discussions. The unconventional experts have already explored “Reimaging Finances,” “Reimaging Perspectives” and “Reimaging Relationships,” among other topics.
