Oscars 2017: Jimmy Kimmel's best moments at the Academy Awards

Jimmy Kimmel has taken aim at some of Hollywood's elite as well as US President Donald Trump while hosting the 88th annual Academy Awards.
We take a look at some of his best moments from the night.
Uniting America
Kimmel was quick of the mark, starting off his opening monologue with a look at the divided state of America.
After remarking that most people's advice was that everyone needed to be brought together, he joked that he was not the man to do it.
"There's only one Braveheart [Mel Gibson] in the room and he's not going to unite us either."
'Smooth move, dumbass'
It is no secret that Kimmel has an ongoing feud with Matt Damon.
But in the spirit of bringing people together at the awards, Kimmel said he would like to "bury the hatchet".
It also gave him plenty of opportunity to sneak in a few jibes, including a dig at Damon's decision to not star in Manchester By The Sea.
"Matt, as you probably know, could have starred in Manchester by the Sea, he was the producer, it's nominated for six Oscars including lead actor, and he could have taken that lead actor part for himself, but he didn't.
"He gave that role to Casey Affleck, his childhood friend. He handed what turned out to be an Oscar-calibre role over to his friend, and made a Chinese ponytail movie instead.
"And that movie, The Great Wall, went on to lose $80 million. Smooth move, dumbass."
He made it rain Red Vines
Yes, Jimmy Kimmel made candy drop from the ceiling.
The little bundles of Red Vines, Junior Mints and other lollies fell onto the unsuspecting Oscar audience.
It was a moment reminiscent of the 2014 Oscars when Ellen DeGeneres delivered pizza to the crowd.
Is that an Ivanka?
Kimmel also singled out Meryl Streep for a round of applause at the awards, before asking her where her dress was from.
"Nice dress, by the way," he said.
"Is that an Ivanka?"
It followed Mr Trump's criticism of the actress as "overrated" after her fiery Golden Globes speech last month.
When he surprised some tourists
One of Kimmel's other stunts included a bus full of tourists.
Kimmel told the Dolby Theatre audience the group was told they were going to stop at an exhibit of Oscar gowns and tuxedos.
"But we didn't tell them," Kimmel said, "that people would be in them."
They were paraded through the audience of Hollywood stars, including Ryan Gosling and Nicole Kidman, and were given the chance to touch Mahershala Ali's Oscar.
Calling out JT, NSYNC
Kimmel also took aim at Justin Timberlake after he opened the Oscars with a performance of Can't Stop the Feeling.
"I hope the other guys from NSYNC were watching that performance because if they were, I think there's a good chance they'll let you back in the band."
Taking aim at Trump
Kimmel didn't disappoint expectations that the Oscars would get political, taking aim at Mr Trump throughout his Oscars performance.
In the opening monologue, Kimmel was quick to draw a link between the #oscarssowhite controversy and Mr Trump.
"I want to say thank you to President Trump," Kimmel said.
"Remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist?"
He also joked about the President's Twitter performance.
"Some of you will get to come up on this stage tonight and give a speech that the President of the United States will tweet about in all caps during his 5:00am bowel movement tomorrow," he said.
"And I think that's pretty darn excellent if you ask me, so let's get going."
