For months the Israeli forces diminished the harassment of the Friday demos of villages activists and the Israeli anarchists against the wall. In bil'in they nearly stopped entirely any shooting of tear gas and bullets, seldom tried to stop us from approaching the separation wall... The participants of the big demo of the 12th year celebration could not see even one soldier till the end of the demo when kids forced open the gate of the wall and resulted in a mildest ever response. The failure of the big plan of US to subvert the countries of the region as it exported terror (Al Quida, Daesh and Shieh advances) forced it to compromises with Iran, Rojave, (and probably with Syrian Assad, Russia and the Palestinians). read full story / add a comment

Η αλήθεια είναι ότι αν και τους τελευταίους μήνες η «δράση» των φασιστών της πόλης μας έκανε πολύ συχνά να μειδιάσουμε, αυτό το τελευταίο, το να μην εμφανιστούν καν στην συγκέντρωση που κάλεσαν, έστω πίσω από την κάλυψη των μπάτσων όπως συνήθως, έστω σε κλειστό χώρο, έστω έξω από την πόλη… θέτει τον πήχη ακόμα “ψηλότερα”! Το γεγονός δε ότι την επόμενη ημέρα (22/1) έβγαλαν ανακοίνωση με την οποία υποστηρίζουν ότι ποτέ δεν κάλεσαν στην πορεία και όλα ήταν κόλπο των αντιφασιστών, οι οποίοι μόνοι τους τύπωσαν τα τρικάκια που καλούσαν στην εθνικιστική πορεία (!!!), απλά απογειώνει την ξεφτίλα τους, αλλά παράλληλα απογειώνει και το αστείο της υπόθεσης! read full story / add a comment

Los desalojos en el barrio Nuevo Jerusalén comenzaron sin garantías para las 175 familias que serán desalojadas, el Estado encarnado en las alcaldías municipales de Bello y Medellín no tiene una propuesta clara para reubicar a estas familias, solo han brindado un arriendo temporal de “3 meses con posibilidad de prórroga”, una solución en el aire para las familias que desde hace más de 10 años están construyendo su hogar, su casa, gentes que fueron desplazadas y que tampoco tuvieron apoyo o garantías a su llegada a la ciudad. This past week on January 11th, the body of Michael Israel, Sacramento organizer and late YPG volunteer, finally arrived in California from overseas. His journey back into the United States took over a month, and began in Syria with a ceremony and mourning procession to send him off. His California community has been awaiting his arrival, and organized a funeral procession of their own to welcome Michael home for the last time. Sacramento and Bay Area activists, individuals from the California Kurdish community, and Michael’s friends and family all came together to accompanied him from the San Francisco Airport to Lodi, his hometown. Over fifty people took part in the long-distance procession, traveling in around 20 cars, vans, and buses festooned with YPG and anti-fascist flags, flowers, and pictures of Michael. read full story / add a comment

In this post, Anarchist Lens returns to the subject of electoral politics and how it demobilises the struggle for change. The example of the German Greens is examined. In the late 70s, Die Grünen (The Greens) emerged as a new force on the German and European left. Radical and activist led, they claimed to be aware of the pitfalls of the electoral process and were, in their own words, an ‘anti-party party’. Yet, in less than twenty years, they had capitulated on all their key principles: tolerating nuclear power, rubber-stamping German participation in NATO and even agreeing to capitalist-friendly market reforms. How did this transformation come about?
