Paul Langford _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Who Are We? EnChor East EnChor East is a four-voiced community choir of 50+ voices, drawing its members from the Halifax area. EnChor East meets Tuesday evenings, September to May at 7:15 - 9:15pm. The choir has built a respected reputation, supported by appreciative audiences, since 1982. The choir presents an eclectic repertoire of classical, contemporary and folk pieces, typically over three concerts per season. These are traditionally performed at Christmas, mid-winter and a spring season finale. EnChor East's musical guests over the years include: Dartmouth Chorale Society, Chebucto Community Singers, Seton Cantata Choir, Kings Chorale, Cantibile Singers of Truro, Halifax Girls Honour Choir, pianist Dean Bradshaw and Baroque N' Fiddle String Quartet. In January 2010, EnChor East was invited to perform Karl Jenkin's The Armed Man: A Mass Peace at New york's Lincoln Centre for the Martin Luthur King Jr. Day memorial performance, hosted by Distinguished Concerts International New York. In July 2017, EnChor East will travel to Ottawa for the Canada 150 Celebrations as part of Unisong, to sing on Parliament Hill and the National Arts Centre. Second Chances Jazz Band The Second Chances Community Band of Nova Scotia is a non-profit society established to provide a music education program for adults wishing to learn to play a musical instrument in a band setting. If you or someone you know is interested in learning how to play a musical instrument or if you would like to pick up your instrument after many years, we are always looking for new enthusiastic players. We strive to provide a supportive and enjoyable musical learning environment. No experience is required for our beginner band program; no audition is required for our more experienced concert band or jazz band. The Second Chances Jazz Band performs traditional and contemporary jazz standards as well as jazz influenced popular pieces. The Jazz Band performs two to three concerts per year in conjunction with the Second Chances Concert Band in December, April and during the summer months. The Jazz Band has performed at St. Matthew's United Church, participating in the SummerSounds@Barrington series for the past two summers and has performed for various community groups.
