How can improved access to internet play a role to promote the right to information in Myanmar?
On the occasion of Sweden’s 250th anniversary of the adoption of legal guarantees for freedom of information and a free press, Phandeeyar organized an event with Myanmar Now, Article 19, and the Swedish Government to discuss ongoing efforts to adopt a right to information law in Myanmar. Swe Win, a Chief Correspondent of Myanmar Now; Yin Yadanar, Country Representative of Article 19; Ei Myat Noe Khin, Social Impact Associate at Phandeeyar; and Staffan Herrstrom, the Swedish Ambassador to Myanmar, Thailand and Laos participated in a discussion moderated by Thin Lei Win.
In front of a room of 40 journalists, panelists discussed how access to information helps expose bad decisions, or corruption. Giving information to people, said Ei Myat Noe Khin on our team, can help people improve their lives.
