Wow! Major Sjursen is a brave man. We must be prepared to resist if Commander-in-chief Bannon tries to muzzle him. This is as good as Ellsberg’s writing on Viet Nam. One thing he doesn’t mention, is that our unconditional support for Israel makes it absolutely impossible for us to muster any support for our “values” in the Middle East.
Likewise, killing Houthis, who have done us no harm, is both immoral and unsound. It plays into the hands of the most rabid in Teheran and Baghdad.

Curious you don’t mention smashing Israel’s rivals as a substantial motive for the invasion of Iraq and current sanctions plus enmity towards Iran. From that standpoint, the U.S. interventions have been incredibly successful. Other than that, it’s a great rant. The interventions have done nothing to protect U.S. people or U.S. interests but rather done more to hurt us, and with lets say at least a million dead and untold misery, have caused incredible harm to the people of the region. Who I think will remember for a long time.

The thing about delusions is that then end poorly. Often multiple visits to mental health institutions if you are lucky; jail more likely; death and injury often likely. This national delusion I am afraid will result in a hard landing. For many people the landing has already been hard. I just hope that out culture and it’s leaders will have the courage to allow the truth to make us uncomfortable and to change.
