Colour: your brief and video tutorial for the March Clique Challenge

Theme: Colour
Deadline: Monday, March 27 at 12 noon AEDT

Your March Challenge theme is Colour.

The elements of design common to colour and black and white photography are shape, texture, space and form.

For the March Clique Challenge we are looking for the additional element of colour.

Colour photographs have extra design considerations. These include vibrancy and saturation, complimentary and contrasting shades plus skin tone.

All entries for this Challenge should not just be photographs that happen to be colour, but images that are made stronger because they are in colour. The photographer’s choice to take a colour photograph will be because it adds more impact to the image, than if the moment was captured in black and white.

Submissions with or without a human element are eligible and can include portraiture, landscapes, daily life/photojournalism and sport.

Fairfax photographer Peter Braig joins us for the March video tutorial with advice on making the most of colour in your photos.

The winner of the March Challenge wins a Clique prize pack, including:

  • Nikon: A $1000 Nikon Store voucher.
  • Adobe: A 12-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan.
  • PosterCandy: A custom poster.
  • Fairfax Syndication: A framed 16×20 inch print of your winning photo or a photo from the Fairfax Syndication archive.
  • Fairfax Photographic: A portfolio review by a Fairfax Media photographer from The Sydney Morning Herald or The Age.

The winner of the Nikon People’s Choice Award for March wins a $500 voucher from the Nikon Store.
