À propos du projet
COMPLETING THE NEW ALBUM
We're raising funds to complete "Dancing at the Pink House," a new CD of my music. The pieces have been recorded, edited, and mixed. The last phase of production will involve assembling the works into an album, mastering the tracks, designing the cover and print material, and sending the finished product to the factory for manufacturing.
The album presents five pieces: "I Love You, Billy Danger," a virtuoso piano solo composed for and performed by Brenda Tom; "Night," an evocative piece that explores the dark, warm sounds of clarinet, marimba and gongs; "Loop," a meditative trio for cello, piano and vibraphone; "Dancing at the Pink House," a duo for clarinet and piano that combines echoes of swing music with quotations from "America the Beautiful;" and "Madam's Tavern," a complex, polyphonic tapestry for solo violin and a recorded choir of 15 violins.

A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory, pianist Brenda Tom has created a distinguished career as a soloist, accompanist, chamber musician, and orchestral keyboardist. She has served as principal pianist with Symphony Silicon Valley and Sacramento, Monterey and Santa Cruz Symphonies, and has appeared with numerous orchestras and festivals, including Cabrillo and Bear Valley. Her recent performances of Philip Glass’ Tirol Concerto with the SF Ballet Orchestra was widely hailed by critics as“brilliant” and “superb.” Her latest recording is “Angels and Watermarks,” a CD of 21st century music for piano and harpsichord. In their reviews, critics called her navigation of the complex music “courageous” and “tremendous.” “Brenda Tom,” praised another reviewer, “again moves effortlessly between styles and characters, further deepening the already engaging music.”
