À propos du projet
THE GRAPEVINE follows the small staff involved in the privately-owned restaurant’s daily operations. All the while dealing with their personal lives and of course, the service industry: Needy guests, picky eaters and ridiculously exaggerated guest-complaints.
About Us took 19 days to produce over 180 hours of footage. I learned several things as a result of this: We were capable of producing a show in 19 days, however, it will take much more than $8,000 if we want to be conscious and get sleep during.
Often times, we could not afford full-length production days at locations, so we'd film every-single-scene in four hours, whether that be one page or eleven. If we ran out of time, we'd have to cut whatever was left. It was stressful and did not leave much room for quality, creativity or most importantly: fun. We don't want to do that this time.
We - the writers, the directors, the whole cast and crew - want to make this show for you. We love to laugh and we love making people laugh.
This project is a passion project, which means most of us all have survival jobs but we want to take the time to make it right. And as we all know, time equals money.
We want to film the first season of The Grapevine just like About Us, 21-24 consecutive days.
So that means 24 days of camera and lens rentals, props, wardrobe, paying for (and feeding) our crew/cast and most costly: The Grapevine itself. We'll be renting a fully functioning restaurant.
BONUS TIME: Reach Goal #2: $75,000
If we reach $75,000, guess what? We'll be able to add two more episodes to season one. Bringing our season one total to eight.
So, if you laughed once, give us a dollar. If you laughed more than once, give us five. If you didn't laugh at all, make sure your computer is not on mute... if you know how to do that. ;)
Risques et défis
The biggest challenge we face is having the funds to adequately rent our 'set' for the duration that we need, in order to tell this story the best way possible!
So where does that leave us? GO MAKE YOUR RESERVATION NOW!
