Mitsubishi has added more safety technology and updated its Outlander SUV range.

The Outlander line-up begins with the entry-level LS, which now comes standard with seven-seats when paired with a CVT transmission. The five-speed manual version remains five-seat only.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol manual LS variant gains digital radio, dual zone air conditioning,  smartphone linking display, LED lit centre console, LED lights in the footwells, 12V socket in the rear cargo area and a shark fin antenna over the outgoing model and is priced from $28,750 plus on-road costs.

Mitsubishi offers a choice of two engine for its seven-seat auto LS range, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder or 2.4-litre variant - with the latter sending power to all four wheels - costing from $30,500 and $33,500 respectively.

The 2.0-litre version gains electric folding and heated side mirrors while the 2.4-litre variants gains an additional electric park brake.

The new addition to the Outlander range is the LS Safety Pack, it is available in four model trims; a 2.0-litre two-wheel drive CVT with five seats, two 2.4-litre CVT all-wheel drive versions with either five- or seven-seats and a 2.2-litre diesel powered seven-seater variant with a six-speed automatic transmission. These models are priced between $32,000 and $39,500.

LS Safety Pack models gain lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, rain sensing wipers and dusk sensing headlights.

The Outlander range tops out with the Exceed, which comes with either a 2.4-litre CVT petrol or a 2.2-litre diesel with a six-speed automatic transmission and are priced from $44,000 and $47,500 respectively.

Additional gear includes blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, LED front fog lights and a surround view camera.

Mitsubishi has also made an effort to improve ride comfort and stability.

The new Outlander is available now.
