Q&A;: Peugeot 308 making a noise when turning

I have just bought a 2012 Peugeot 308 with low mileage off the original elderly owner. The car is lovely to drive but has a knock and a crack-type noise sometimes when turning. Any ideas?

We would strongly recommend having a Peugeot dealer check out your car immediately as a certain VIN range of this model was recalled in October 2012 to check for "incorrectly tensioned steering rack bolts". This or any other noise coming from the car's steering and suspension could potentially be dangerous. Your vehicle may not be affected and the noise could be coming from other parts, such as struts or a sway bar, just to mention a couple. Regardless, you should get the car into a dealer yesterday just to be safe!
