Established in 1976, Australia’s oldest city marathon is back. The Canberra Times through Fairfax Events successfully re-launched the Canberra Marathon as part of the exciting new Australian Running Festival in 2011. It incorporates a 5km, 10km, Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra-Marathon, held over spectacular courses in Nation’s Capital. The event weekend attracted 4,109 entrants in 2012, with an aim to reach 10,000 by Centenary of Canberra in 2013. The festival raised in excess of $80,000 for more than 400 charities and is supported by local clubs, including the new YMCA of Canberra Runners.
