Overview

The Gateway is a high-impact and high-reach rich media ad placement. The Gateway’s crossbar arches side to side between the site’s header section and content pane. This crossbar includes a click initiated expanding panel and Superking Gutter ads. *Please consult lead times below for custom gateways.

Product Rules

• The Gateway must be booked in conjunction with a standard Medium Rectangle. Note that the Medium Rectangle is independent to the Gateway – no synchronisation or other interaction is available between these two units.
• Clickable area is restricted to the gateway image’s dimension.
• Gateway images must include a logo or other form of client identification. The images must be clearly expressing their nature as advertisement in order not to deceive users.
• The gateway requires pre-approval.
• Images are static, animation is not allowed in the unexpanded state.
• Some users may have screen resolutions too narrow to display the gutter area. In these cases the images will be removed from the page but not the crossbar.
• No frequency capping is applied, however a Fairfax implemented standard remove button enables users to remove the crossbar element for the rest of the day.
• If video is included in the click initiated expanded panel, it may start auto-play with sound, but is required to have a play/pause button on the player
• This product is only supported on desktop devices!
• The expanded panel must also include a standard close button

• Expanded state of the Crossbar should be exactly 1000 pixels with all essential content within the top 700 pixels to ensure view-ability on laptop devices.
• Safe Space - Within gutters, all essential branding and copy must be within 145 pixels of the content area to ensure visibility on lower resolution.

Chameleon Functionality

To trigger a new set of images, the creative must trigger the following JavaScript functions:

Deliverables

• 3rd Party Served Expandable Crossbar as per specifications
• A single jpeg image built to the specifications below. Gutters are served and hosted by Fairfax and cannot be 3rd party adserved.
• Please download the latest PSD template to prepare your creative.†

Reporting

• Clicks*
• Impressions
• For crossbar’s that are build by Fairfax custom metrics will be provided based off the design
• There are no other Rich Media metrics for gateway creative

* Clicks will be measured as an overall metric and not individually, this may mean that they are tracked as an accumulative of gutter clicks & mrec or crossbar clicks. To track gutters other elements separately third party tracking must be provided.
