It has been billed as the biggest shake-up of Queensland's electorate map in decades.

The Queensland Redistribution Council proposes increasing the number of seats from 89 to 93, while abolishing the rural seat held by Katter's Australian Party MP Shane Knuth and the urban electorate held by LNP frontbencher Scott Emerson..

Queensland's new electoral boundaries

The seats of Indooroopilly and Dalrymple are abolished as Queensland is remapped to make way for four new seats. Nine News

Scores of electorates will have new boundaries, while a dozen will have new names.

New Seats: 6

  • Bonney (Gold Coast)
  • Macalister (Between Brisbane and the Gold Coast)
  • Jordan (Ipswich)
  • Bancroft (Between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast)
  • Ninderry (Sunshine Coast)
  • Hill (North Queensland)

Abolished Seats: 2

Indooroopilly: A seat in Brisbane's inner-western suburbs, covering 27 square kilometres. 

Dalrymple: Charters Towers, about 110 km south-west of Townsville, is the largest town in this inland seat which covers more than 100,000 square kilometres,
