Police allege theft, harassment among horse charity members

Two former committee members of a Queensland horse charity have been charged after an extensive police investigation into allegations of the misuse of donations.

Police allege that one of the women, 36, stole money from the Save a Horse Australia charity for personal gain and falsified minutes from a meeting in 2012.

The Beaudesert woman, along with a 55-year-old Clagiraba woman, also allegedly used social media to intimidate and harass a former charity worker and witness to the case.

Both women were charged with misusing a carriage service. The Beaudesert woman was also charged with multiple counts of stealing and fraudulent falsification of records.

The women were arrested in Ipswich on Friday and were granted bail under conditions restricting their involvement with managing the charity and its funds. They will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on March 24.

Investigations are continuing.
