Show comments

It's been an incredible round of football in an amazing season, will the trend continue as traditional rivals Richmond and Carlton square off at the MCG?

Full time

Nankervis kicks one very late, and the Tigers get home to consolidate their spot in the top eight.

Richmond 11.18.84

Carlton 8.10.58

The Tigers never really shut the gate, but in the end time beat Carlton, who weren't helped by having lost Lamb early in the day in an incident that will earn Houli a holiday.

It was a deserved win for Richmond, who had the lion's share of inside 50s and applied terrific pressure all day, even if their finishing left something to be desired.

Castagna, Rance, Martin, Grigg, Houli and Ellis led the way for Richmond, while Kreuzer, Cripps, Docherty and Murphy were the best Blues.

I'm heading down to the rooms, but check out Greg Baum's match report, online at Real Footy shortly.

Riewoldt and Prestia both miss chances, but Tigers might have it now. 2:35 to go.

Crowd is 64,448

Menadue honours the lead of Riewoldt, but the spearhead doesn't make the distance. Eventually it's Caddy who takes a shot but misses. 5:45 to go.

Wright gets it out of the middle, and eventually gets it back. He kicks it from 50m but it's a behind.

Cripps marks 20m out. He goes back and goals. 8:24 to go.

Docherty drifts forward and marks, but he misses everything.

A big moment as the ball evades the outstretched arms of Blue Jarrod Pickett. Richmond run it down the other end and Butler adds another.

Martin errs in trying to spot up a target inside 50 and the Blues rebound. Charlie Curnow marks 25m out and kicks it.

Cripps does very well in heavy traffic and the Blues head forward where Simpson marks, but hangs his kick to the left.

Cotchin finds Riewoldt who goes back and kicks his third. Even Richmond couldn't lose from here?

The Blues have a couple of chances but it's the Tigers who get the first of the quarter through Dan Butler after some brilliant evasive work from Martin.

Final term underway.

THREE-QUARTER TIME

Richmond 7.13.55

Carlton 6.6.42

The Tigers lead it by 13 points, unable to put the Blues to bed. Given Richmond's recent history, that could spell trouble.

It's 50 inside 50s to 29.

Rance falls over in defence, opening the door for the Blues, who get it to Casboult, who kicks a goal, and keeps his side well and truly in the contest.

A handball over the top from Martin to Riewoldt ends a barren stretch for both sides. The Tigers doing enough at the moment.

A period of frustration for the Blues, who fail to capitalise on a decent spell in their forward half.

A moment of controversy as a line-ball Tigers goal isn't paid, with Caleb Marchbank credited for a mark on the line.

Jacob Weitering back on the ground after getting some attention to his knee.

Shai Bolton stops the run of behinds, snapping well after some more terrific Tigers forward pressure.
