Pisasale on Monday: Ipswich woman turns 100

ONE of the things I love about Ipswich is our willingness to celebrate personal milestones with those near and dear to us. In the past week, I was lucky enough to join the celebrations of 100-year-old Thelma Corney, a resident at the Nowlanvil Aged Care Facility at Flinders View.

Second World War veteran notches up a milestone

ANOTHER major milestone was marked by Clyde Towler, who turned 96 on Friday. Clyde is a Second World War veteran who lives at Woodend with his wife Mary. We also acknowledged dual 90th birthdays for Dorothy Denning and Ron Elvery at Elim Village in Raceview. It's tremendous to see Ipswich residents enjoying long and happy lives - I wish you all many more years of health and happiness.

Celebrating many decades of marriage

IT WAS also a week for anniversaries with Ronald and Hazel Sills celebrating 50 years of marriage at the Bremer Waters Community Hall on Saturday. They were joined by 60th anniversaries for Yamanto couples John and Zilla Lennox, and Selwyn and Maureen Schneider. Congratulations to everyone.

Jobs growth nothing to yoke about

SUNNY Queen Australia cracked open its new $40-million production facility at Carole Park on Friday. It's tremendous to see national brands investing in Ipswich. Sunny Queen has created more than 120 local jobs and the group's innovation is certainly nothing to "yoke" about.

Looking after our future league players

THE Northern Suburbs Old Boys charity golf day at Sandy Gallop Golf Club raised money for our future generations of rugby league players yesterday. The Norths club has a real family atmosphere and the Old Boys help to take that support and mateship to the next level.

Great night for a worthy cause

LIKE Norths, the Swich On and Swichettes groups give back to the community and are always willing to lend a helping hand. Saturday night's gala ball at the North Ipswich Reserve Corporate Centre raised money for the Ipswich Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre. A big thanks to everyone.
