France (French: [fʁɑ̃s]), officially the French Republic (French: République française [ʁepyblik fʁɑ̃sɛz]), is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France, called metropolitan France, extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. France spans 643,801 square kilometres (248,573 sq mi) and has a total population of 66.6 million. It is a unitary semi-presidential republic with the capital in Paris, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre. The Constitution of France establishes the state as secular and democratic, with its sovereignty derived from the people.
During the Iron Age, what is now Metropolitan France was inhabited by the Gauls, a Celtic people. The Gauls were conquered in 51 BC by the Roman Empire, which held Gaul until 486. The Gallo-Romans faced raids and migration from the Germanic Franks, who dominated the region for hundreds of years, eventually creating the medieval Kingdom of France. France emerged as a major European power in the Late Middle Ages, with its victory in the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453) strengthening French state-building and paving the way for a future centralized absolute monarchy. During the Renaissance, France experienced a vast cultural development and established the beginning of a global colonial empire. The 16th century was dominated by religious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants (Huguenots).
The Banque de France, headquartered in Paris, is the central bank of France; it is linked to the European Central Bank (ECB). Founded in 1800, it helped resolve the financial crisis of 1848 and emerged as a powerful central bank. Its main charge is to implement the interest rate policy of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
In 1800, financial power in France was in the hands of about ten to fifteen banking houses whose founders, in most cases, came from Switzerland in the second half of the eighteenth century. These bankers, mostly Protestant, were deeply involved in the agitations leading up to the French Revolution. When the revolutionary violence got out of hand, they orchestrated the rise of Napoleon, whom they regarded as the restorer of order. As a reward for their support, Napoleon, in 1800, gave the bankers a monopoly over French finance by giving them control of the new Bank of France. For the first fifteen years it was the sole issuer of bank notes in Paris, and this privilege was extended to other financially important towns and the rest of the country by 1848.
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
A short film is any film not long enough to be considered a feature film. Although no consensus exists as to where that boundary is drawn, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". The term featurette originally applied to a film longer than a short subject, but shorter than a standard feature film.
The increasingly rare term short subject means approximately the same thing. An industry term, it carries more of an assumption that the film is shown as part of a presentation along with a feature film. Short is an abbreviation for either term. Short films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals and made by independent filmmakers for non profit, either with a low budget or no budget at all. They are usually funded by film grants, non profit organizations, sponsor, or personal funds. Short films are generally used by filmmakers to gain experience and/or prove their talent in order to gain funding for future films from private investors, entertainment companies, or film studios.
A bank is a financial institution that creates credit by lending money to a borrower, thereby creating a corresponding deposit on the bank's balance sheet. Lending activities can be performed either directly or indirectly through capital markets. Due to their importance in the financial system and influence on national economies, banks are highly regulated in most countries. Most nations have institutionalized a system known as fractional reserve banking under which banks hold liquid assets equal to only a portion of their current liabilities. In addition to other regulations intended to ensure liquidity, banks are generally subject to minimum capital requirements based on an international set of capital standards, known as the Basel Accords.
Banking in its modern sense evolved in the 14th century in the rich cities of Renaissance Italy but in many ways was a continuation of ideas and concepts of credit and lending that had their roots in the ancient world. In the history of banking, a number of banking dynasties — notably, the Medicis, the Fuggers, the Welsers, the Berenbergs and the Rothschilds — have played a central role over many centuries. The oldest existing retail bank is Monte dei Paschi di Siena, while the oldest existing merchant bank is Berenberg Bank.

The Bank of France has predicted French GDP growth of 0.2 percent in the second quarter of 2014. That estimate anticipates that France, Europe's second-largest economy, will grow at around half as much as the eurozone as a whole. The forecast comes amid reports of weak company morale despite a business push by the government, which is battling high unemployment and seeking to cut its deficit. The French central bank also estimate growth of 0.2 percent for the first quarter of 2014. ... French President Francois Hollande spoke alongside Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at a press conference in Paris, Tuesday, denouncing a law passed by the Israeli parliament Monday that retroactively legalises settlement-building in the West Bank. SOT, Francois Hollande, President of France (French): [The Paris Conference] had to take place in order to affirm that the two-state solution is the only solution, and it is not possible that we talk about other matters, unless there are two states that live side by side in peace and security. And in this conference, I have to say that the acceleration of building settlements complicates the mission. They understand that the negotiations are indispensable. Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded. This is one of my very first commercial work. I directed it with Francois-Xavier Goby and it was produced in France with Mr Hyde. This is a film about a man with giant legs. He decides to make the best use of his legs by taking his kids on a journey around the world. The approach was to achieve a feeling of painted postcards with a warm/rich color palette. The pace was built in a way that would enable the audience to travel with the characters enjoying the beautiful landscapes. The film was created in Paris with a small crew of great guys (Big thanks to François Caffiaux, Thomas Wagner, Charles Blanchard, Remi Gamiette, Kevin Franczuk, Pascal Charrue, Sebastien and special Big Up to Jerome Lionard !
Every year we create memories that we take with us on our journey. However, it is the finer detail in those memories that can easily be forgotten; from the birth of our children, we watch them grow, speak their first words and take their first steps. They perform at school concerts and ballet recitals, play their first game of rugby or football for a local club. Some of us travel to faraway places on annual holidays whilst others enjoy day trips to castles during bank holidays. That's why I've been creating 'memory bank' films for my children over the last 11 years. So that on rainy days in the future, we can look back on great times we shared together. So this year, after having achieved 2nd place in the competition last year (vimeo.com/57331736), I set about making another 5 minute f...

The French central bank also estimate growth of 0.2 percent for the first quarter of 2014. ... Twenty-two people were injured, including 19 firefighters lightly burned or overcome by smoke. Fire engulfed the headquarters of a financially troubled French bank on Sunday, injuring 22 people and sending up a column of smoke. The acceleration of settlement-building, along with a legal cover, after the Israeli p...

camera TM700, editing Premiere Pro CS5.5 www.febproductions.blogspot.it facebook.com/FebProductions The Louvre Museum or simply the Louvre—is one of the world's largest museums, the most visited art museum in the world and a historic monument. A central landmark of Paris, France, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st arrondissement (district). Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 19th century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres (652,300 square feet).
camera TM700, editing Premiere Pro CS5.5 www.febproductions.blogspot.it facebook.com/FebProductions Montmartre is a hill which is 130 metres high, giving its name to the surrounding district, in the north of Paris in the 18th arrondissement, a part of the Right Bank. Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded. Many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí, Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. Montmartre is also the setting for several hit films. This site is served by metro...

Last weekend was a total Wild In The Parks blast around Europe with 5 events simultaneously, celebrating back to school the Volcom way on this first weekend of September. The French WITP contest was held in the student city of Montpellier in the South of France, at the old and legendary Grammont skatepark, right after it receives a facelift much needed. Our friend Shutzi at IOU ramps did a good job refreshing half of the park and the event came in perfect to test the new obstacles. Registration started early and around 120 skaters signed in for the three divisions on offer, lots of locals and a bunch of people coming from all the South of France from far East Hyères and Marseille, to Bordeaux or Hossegor in the West, including a couple from Lyon, Nimes, Valence and other close cities. Des...
For video licensing inquiries go to to my website: http://stephanelegrand.com/stock-footage/ _________________________________________________________________ After spending hundreds of hours editing the sequences, often frame by frame, today I am extremely pleased to show you my second big time lapse movie 'Bonjour Paris'. After hearing some amazing feedback last year, I told myself why not do one of Paris. My means were roughly the same as ‘Hello Toronto', the only difference is the allocated shoot time. For 'Hello Toronto', I shot different sequences over the course of almost 2 years. In December 2014, I came back to France for 3 weeks during Christmas, and stayed only one week in Paris. I had about 50 locations to shoot, which made it a huge challenge for me; moreover I was remotely ...
