A short clip from one of the most horrible movie deaths, in my opinion. From the 1981 animated film "Heavy Metal".
This is taken from the first short story about Harry Canyon. He helps a girl get rid of a powerfull and expensive orb and she promises him half of $300,000. She gives the orb to a mobster and drives of with Harry in his taxi cab and the money. Along the way she decides to double-cross him, not knowing the dangerous disintegrator Harry built into his cab to stop people from attacking him, since this is set in a futuristic setting where violence and crime is much higher than today.

"Heavy Metal" (1981) fue una película de dibujos pionera para su tiempo. Hasta esa fecha no existía largometraje alguno de dibujos animados para adultos. Heavy Metal nos traslada a través de diversas historias a otros mundos y épocas llenos de violencia, sexo, terror y aventuras. Una combinación letal que ningún adolescente o infante de mi época, los 80, debió perderse por entonces.
Aunque basada en un cómic americano del mismo nombre, algunas de las historias presentadas son totalmente originales, como la de Taarna y la de Harry Canyon. Todas presentan un nexo común de unión que se basado en una extraña esfera llamada el Loc- Nar, y que parece tener el poder de corromper con su poder de maldad a aquellos que la ambicionan.
He seleccionado un par de secuencias como favoritas de esta película:
DEN - Secuencia perteneciente al final de la historia, donde Den explica y piensa por qué desea quedarse en ese mundo mutante y renuncia al poder del Loc-Nar.
Taarna - Violenta secuencia muy al estilo del Oeste americano en un Salón-Bar donde Taarna se encuentra con tres agresores del pueblo humano masacrado al comienzo de la historia.

Heavy Metal (film)
Heavy Metal is a 1981 Canadian-American adult animated anthology science fiction fantasy film directed by Gerald Potterton and produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Mogel, who also was the publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, the basis for the film. The screenplay was written by Daniel Goldberg and Len Blum. The film was the sixth animated feature film to be presented in Dolby surround sound.
The film is an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of graphic violence, sexuality, and nudity. Its production was expedited by having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments, including CinéGroupe and Atkinson Film-Arts.
A sequel titled Heavy Metal 2000 was released in 2000.
Plot
Soft Landing
The film's title sequence story opens with a space shuttle flying in orbit over Earth. The bay doors open, releasing a Corvette. An astronaut seated in the Corvette then begins descending through Earth's atmosphere, landing in a desert canyon (both car and occupant miraculously unscathed by re-entry friction heat) .

"Heavy Metal" (1981) fue una película de dibujos pionera para su tiempo. Hasta esa fecha no existía largometraje alguno de dibujos animados para adultos. Heavy Metal nos traslada a través de diversas historias a otros mundos y épocas llenos de violencia, sexo, terror y aventuras. Una combinación letal que ningún adolescente o infante de mi época, los 80, debió perderse por entonces.
Aunque basada en un cómic americano del mismo nombre, algunas de las historias presentadas son totalmente originales, como la de Taarna y la de Harry Canyon. Todas presentan un nexo común de unión que se basado en una extraña esfera llamada el Loc- Nar, y que parece tener el poder de corromper con su poder de maldad a aquellos que la ambicionan.
He seleccionado un par de secuencias como favoritas de esta película:
DEN - Secuencia perteneciente al final de la historia, donde Den explica y piensa por qué desea quedarse en ese mundo mutante y renuncia al poder del Loc-Nar.
Taarna - Violenta secuencia muy al estilo del Oeste americano en un Salón-Bar donde Taarna se encuentra con tres agresores del pueblo humano masacrado al comienzo de la historia.
