Manorama News

Manorama News (also known as MM TV) is a Malayalam language news channel owned and operated by Malayala Manorama. The channel, based at Aroor Alleppey, was launched on 17 August 2006, which coincided with the Malayalam New Year. The channel was launched with the assistance of media consulting company Mediaguru Consultants Pvt. Ltd.

The thirty-minute simultaneous newscast of regional news, Nattuvartha, from three regions of Kerala, viz. Malabar region, Kochi Region and Travancore region was done for the first time in the country.

Johny Lukose is the News Director and he also anchors a programme "Nere Chove". Romy Mathew and Pramod Raman are the Coordinating Editors of the channel and heads the input and output functions respectively.

Watch

A watch is a small timepiece intended to be carried or worn by a person. It is designed to keep working despite the motions caused by the person's activities. A wristwatch is designed to be worn on a wrist, attached by a watch strap or other type of bracelet. A pocket watch is designed for a person to carry in a pocket.

Watches evolved in the 17th century from spring-powered clocks, which appeared as early as the 14th century. The first watches were strictly mechanical, driven by clockwork. As technology progressed, mechanical devices, used to control the speed of the watch, were largely superseded by vibrating quartz crystals that produce accurately timed electronic pulses. Some watches use radio clock technology to regularly correct the time. The first digital electronic watch was developed in 1970.

Most inexpensive and medium-priced watches, used mainly for timekeeping, are electronic watches with quartz movements. Expensive collectible watches, valued more for their elaborate craftsmanship, aesthetic appeal and glamorous design than for simple timekeeping, often have purely mechanical movements and are powered by springs, even though these movements are generally less accurate and more expensive than electronic ones. Various extra features, called "complications", such as moon-phase displays and the different types of tourbillon, are sometimes included. Modern watches often display the day, date, month and year, and electronic watches may have many other functions. Time-related features such as timers, chronographs and alarm functions are common. Some modern designs incorporate calculators, GPS and Bluetooth technology or have heart-rate monitoring capabilities. Watches incorporating GPS receivers use them not only to determine their position. They also receive and use time signals from the satellites, which make them essentially perfectly accurate timekeepers, even over long periods of time.

KPCC

KPCC (89.3 MHz FM) is a public radio station based in Pasadena, California. It is a member of National Public Radio, and is one of two full NPR members serving Southern California; Santa Monica-based KCRW is the other.

The station broadcasts at 600 watts, which on paper is relatively modest for a full NPR member on the FM band. However, it operates from the Mount Wilson transmitter, and thus boasts one of the widest coverage areas of any public radio station in Southern California, providing at least secondary coverage to all of Los Angeles and Orange counties. The station is listened to by approximately 600,000 listeners each week.

KPCC is operated by Southern California Public Radio (SCPR), a subsidiary of American Public Media Group. The station's broadcast license is registered to Pasadena City College. KPCC has three satellite stations and two translator frequencies: stations 89.1 FM KUOR in Redlands, 90.3 FM KVLA-FM in the Coachella Valley (Indio, California & Palm Springs) and 89.5 FM KJAI in Ojai, CA (previously KLFF (FM)), and translators 89.9 FM K210AD in Santa Barbara, California and 93.3 FM K227BX in Palm Springs. KUOR is licensed to the University of Redlands, while KVLA and KJAI are licensed to SCPR. The station originally broadcast from the campus of Pasadena City College in Pasadena. In February 2010, the station moved to a new 35,000-square-foot (3,300 m²) facility in a converted office building on Raymond Avenue in Pasadena named the Mohn Broadcast Center and Crawford Family Forum.

Malayala Manorama

Malayala Manorama (Malayalam: മലയാള മനോരമ) is a daily morning newspaper, in Malayalam language, published from Kottayam in the state of Kerala, India by Malayala Manorama Company Limited. It was first published as a weekly on 22 March 1890, and currently has a readership of over 20 million (with a circulation base of over 2.1 million copies). The Malayalam title "Manorama" roughly translates to "entertainer".

According to World Association of Newspapers, as of 2011, it holds a position as the fifth most circulating newspaper in the world. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) 2013 figures, it is the third largest circulating newspapers in India (behind The Times of India and Dainik Jagran) and largest circulating newspaper in Kerala.

History

Malayala Manorama,is owned by single family, known as the Kandathil. Malayala Manorama Company was incorporated by Kandathil Varghese Mappillai at Kottayam on 14 March 1888. The company started with one hundred shares of Rs 100 each. The investors paid in four equal instalments. With the first instalment, the company brought a Hopkinson and Cope press, made in London. A local craftsman, Konthi Achari, was hired to make Malayalam types for the imported press.
