San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California and the only consolidated city-county in California. San Francisco encompasses a land area of about 46.9 square miles (121 km2) on the northern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, which makes it the smallest county in the state. It has a density of about 18,187 people per square mile (7,022 people per km2), making it the most densely settled large city (population greater than 200,000) in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City. San Francisco is the fourth-most populous city in California, after Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose, and the 13th-most populous city in the United States—with a Census-estimated 2014 population of 852,469. The city and its surrounding areas are known as the San Francisco Bay Area, and are a part of the larger OMB designated San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland combined statistical area, the fifth most populous in the nation with an estimated population of 8.6 million.
Francisco is the Spanish and Portuguese form of the masculine given name Franciscus (corresponding to English Francis).
In Spanish, people with the name Francisco sometimes are nicknamed "Paco": San Francisco de Asís was known as Pater Comunitatis (The Community father) when he founded the Franciscan order, "Paco" is a short form of "Pater Comunitatis". Also, in Spanish Latin America and in the Philippines, people with the name Francisco are called "Pancho". "Kiko" is also used as a nickname in the Philippines.
In Portuguese, people named Francisco are commonly nicknamed "Chico" (shíco) or "Kiko". This is also a less-common nickname for Francisco in Spanish too.
Scott McKenzie (born Philip Wallach Blondheim, January 10, 1939 – August 18, 2012) was an American singer and songwriter. He was best known for his 1967 hit single and generational anthem, "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)".
Philip Wallach Blondheim was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1939. His family moved to Asheville, North Carolina, when he was six months old. He grew up in North Carolina and Virginia, where he became friends with the son of one of his mother's friends, John Phillips. In the mid-1950s, he sang briefly with Tim Rose in a high school group called The Singing Strings, and later with Phillips, Mike Boran, and Bill Cleary formed a doo wop band, The Abstracts.
In New York, The Abstracts became The Smoothies and recorded two singles with Decca Records, produced by Milt Gabler. During his time with The Smoothies, Blondheim decided to change his name for business reasons:
In 1961 Phillips and McKenzie met Dick Weissman and formed the folk group, The Journeymen, at the height of the folk music craze. They recorded three albums and seven singles for Capitol Records. After The Beatles became popular in 1964, The Journeymen disbanded. McKenzie and Weissman became solo performers, while Phillips formed the group The Mamas & the Papas with Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips and moved to California.
Subway Surfers is an "endless running" mobile game co-developed by Kiloo, a private company based in U.S.A and SYBO Games. It is available on Android, iOS, Kindle, and Windows Phone platforms. Players of the game take the role of teenage hooligans who, upon being caught in the act of applying graffiti to (tagging) a metro railway site, run down the tracks to escape the Inspector and his dog. As the hooligans run, they grab gold coins out of the air while simultaneously dodging collisions with railway cars and other objects. Special objects, such as the Weekly Hunt, can result an award in the game.
Subway Surfers was released on 24 May 2012 with updates based on seasonal holidays. Since 2 January 2013, updates have been based on a "World Tour" which places the game in a new city every month.
The objective of the game is to collect coins and other rewards while running through an endless game world. Trains and other obstacles must be avoided by performing well-timed jumps (swipe up), rolls (swipe down) and sideways moves (swipe left and right). Occasionally the characters surf on hoverboards, soar over the train tracks and even run along overhead wires. Special missions reward players with bonuses for accomplishing specific tasks. The game ends when the surfer either stumbles and is apprehended or crashes directly into various obstacles.

"San Francisco" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and was number one in the United Kingdom and most of Europe. Don’t pack a tropical wardrobe; the mercury hovers around 60 degrees even in summer. Don’t park on a hill or even a slope without cramping your wheels to the curb, setting the hand brake and putting the car in parking gear. It’s the law. Don’t stand directly behind a cable car gripman; you’ll get the wind knocked out of you when he jerks back on the brake lever. Don’t send for an ambulance if you hear a chorus of moans, groans, grunts and wails, it’s the foghorns. Don’t carry a milk pail to Cow Hollow; the old dairy district west of Van Ness Avenue has become a popular shopping sector. Don’t call cable cars trolleys; they’re powered by the moving steel cabl...

It is difficult to believe that this lively, cosmopolitan city is under constant threat from earthquake, the only rumble being that of the famous cable cars as they vie up and down the city's hilly roads. A boat trip is a great way to see Fisherman's Wharf, various maritime museums, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, former home of Robert 'The Birdman' Stroud, Machine Gun Kelly and Al Capone. Built in 1776, San Francisco's first stone building, Mission Dolores, still stands today. Led by the Franciscan Padres, the Christianized Indians built a church, in the cemetery of which many of the city's original settlers were laid to rest. ...
In this San Francisco travel video guide, I travel to San Francisco, California, one of the most scenic cities in the United States, if not the world. In town for a conference for only four days, only one of which was going to be sunny, I headed out to see as much as I could in a day. I started my day by visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, San Francisco's most famous neighborhood. Ground zero for the Summer of Love, this neighborhood's bohemian past is still evident as you walk around the area, though things have changed quite a bit. Next I headed to the Mission District, San Francisco's "It" neighborhood right now. Home to a large and varied immigrant population, cheap rents have lured many a young and hip individual to the area, evidenced by the artisanal chocolate shops, used book s...

Heading out of old San Francisco
Passing by the Golden Gate bridge
Left my woman and child there stranded
Still don't know why I did
It was late in the evening
And something just felt right
You can run around this old town
Keeping it together even if don't feel right
Everytime I go out on the evening
I seem to be losing my head
Heading out of old San Francisco
It's something I just kinda did
Everytime I go gambling my life away
Thing just turn out to be peaches-and-cream
There'll be good times and bad time around here
Heading out of old San Francisco
Heading down Mexico way
Got my jacknknife, my handbag and six string
And I'll soon be on my way
It was late in the evening
And something just felt right
You can run around this old town
Keeping it together even if don't feel right
Everytime I go out on the evening
I seem to be losing my head
Heading out of old San Francisco
