1st Day Trippin With Dad video! It's a rare prvilege being a Single Dad raising 3 kids on my own, I love it, and I'm making the most of it! We live in Los Angeles, and enjoy taking day trips exploring our beautiful City, and every year we travel farther to somewhere new and exciting! Many people are so inspired by the pictures I post from our trips, that they've been requesting me to do a Single Dad Reality Show! So, I decided to start shooting videos, to bring everyone along on our adventures. I keep them only about 5 minutes, so it shows a lot in a short time. This one is the beginning of a great day, snowing in Dunsmuir, CA during the Winter Break Holidays. It's a charming Historic Train Town near majestic Mt. Shasta. It's nestled between the mountains, where the start of the Sacramento River flows along side the tracks. Being a visual Artist, I can see why this magical place attracts the best Artist from all around. We love it so much up here, that we began looking for a Vacation Home to buy. This video shows a beautiful Victorian Home that I'm interested in. It's on the main street, right in Downtown Dunsmuir. I am "InvinSCible Artist," a platinum music producer, and so the musical score is all original. The beats are made by me and some of the dope producer's I'm proud to work with at Melrose Music Studios in Hollywood, CA. Music is a big part of our lives, so I'm selective of songs that reflect the mood and theme of the scenes. My kids and I have many more awesome and creative adventures to share. We hope you LIKE and SUBSCRIBE, and want to join us. Let's ride!

Dunsmuir House
The Dunsmuir House and Gardens (also known by the name The Dunsmuir-Hellman Historic Estate; and previously known as Oakvale Park) is located in Oakland, California on a 50-acre (200,000 m2) site. The Dunsmuir House has a neoclassical-revival architectural style and is listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is now used primarily for weddings, receptions, business gatherings and historical reenactment events.
History
The house was built in 1899 by Alexander Dunsmuir, son of Robert Dunsmuir, a wealthy coal magnate from Victoria, BC. Dunsmuir, who came to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1878 to manage the family business, intended the house to be a wedding gift for his new bride, but didn't get to live in it with her as he fell ill and died while on his honeymoon in New York. His new bride returned to live in the home, but soon died herself in 1901.
I.W. Hellman Jr. purchased the estate in 1906 as a summer home for his family and by 1913 the mansion was remodeled for the larger family's needs as well as to hold their growing acquisitions from European travel.

Dunsmuir, California
Dunsmuir is a city in Siskiyou County, California, United States. The population was 1,650 at the 2010 census, down from 1,923 at the 2000 census. The official city slogan is "Home of the best water on Earth". Dunsmuir is currently a hub for tourism in Northern California as visitors enjoy fishing, skiing, climbing, or sight-seeing. During steam engine days, it was notable for being the site of an important Central Pacific (and later Southern Pacific) railroad yard, where extra steam locomotives were added to assist trains on the grade to the north.
Commerce and tourism
Located in the Shasta Cascade area of Northern California, Dunsmuir is a popular destination for tourists. Visitors come to fish trout in the Sacramento and McCloud Rivers, or to see and climb Mount Shasta, Castle Crags or the Trinity Alps. Visitors ski (both alpine and cross-country) and bicycle, or can hike to the waterfalls, streams and lakes in the area, including nearby Mossbrae Falls, Hedge Creek Falls, Lake Siskiyou, Castle Lake and Shasta Lake.

HISTORICAL DUNSMUIR CALIFORNIA circa 1928 to 1930
Gustav A. Hutaff was an accomplished photographer and cinematographer as well as both President and member of the board of directors for the State Bank of Dunsmuir. He owned a jewelry store and drug store in town. The drug store was in the Traveler Hotel Building in Dunsmuir. He was also an active member of the Odd Fellows. There is a three story building at the intersection of Dunsmuir Ave and Pine Street known as the Hutaff Building where the Travelers Hotel was located and is now the Premier West Bank. As a side note if you were to Google G.A. Hutaff his name will come up associated with a number of vintage Real Photo Post Cards that he produced in and around Dunsmuir. In 2012, Vancouver's city council set an ambitious goal to reach a bike mode split of 7% by 2020 which was achieved in 2015, 5 years ahead of the plan! And even more impressive: if you just look at just work commute mode splits, they've achieved 10% which certainly puts them in a rare category in North America. When you ride around the fantastic network of bike lanes throughout the city, it is no wonder Vancouver, BC is experiencing a leap in ridership. Most of the city feels safe to ride in and it's fun to see all sorts of people out on bikes. And the fact that they are constantly going back to re-engineer and tweak some parts of the lanes to make them even safer is a key plot point that we need to engage all cities to do more of. Driving into Downtown Vancouver BC Canada - Rogers Arena Stadium (Home of the Canucks)
We are driving into downtown Vancouver via the Georgia Viaduct. We pass by Rogers Arena (0:55) which is the home of the Vancouver Canucks. You can also see BC Place stadium in the background. When we get into downtown we cruise for many blocks on Dunsmuir Street and Melville Street. Sometimes you can see weddings in summer at Holy Rosary Cathedral (2:01). Gustav A. Hutaff was an accomplished photographer and cinematographer as well as both President and member of the board of directors for the State Bank of Dunsmuir. He owned a jewelry store and drug store in town. The drug store was in the Traveler Hotel Building in Dunsmuir. He was also an active member of the Odd Fellows. There is a three story building at the intersection of Dunsmuir Ave and Pine Street known as the Hutaff Building where the Travelers Hotel was located and is now the Premier West Bank. As a side note if you were to Google G.A. Hutaff his name will come up associated with a number of vintage Real Photo Post Cards that he produced in and around Dunsmuir.
While he was not one of Dunsmuir's founding fathers this man is certainly an important member of the Dunsmuir Historical Community.

So sit back and watch and listen to other advocates across the nation who were in Vancouver for the 2016 Pro Walk Pro Bike Pro Place conference who also offer their observations and experience riding the wonderful network of biking nirvana (well for those of us in cities that aren't near this quality just yet.)
I'll end by reflecting on New York City, where we have had tremendous growth and very good work by our NYC DOT in the past 8 years. However, you can see here the extra mile Vancouver is putting in. When you ride in the downtown it's uncommon you'll see a bike lane with a vehicle conflict - without some sort of safety feature or paint. And I didn't see one car parked in the protected lanes in 3 days of riding. In New York, we need to take the additional steps of shoring up our bike infra. After all, we already have the real estate in many cases, we just need to make our protected lanes more bold!

When we get into downtown we cruise for many blocks on Dunsmuir Street and Melville Street. Sometimes you can see weddings in summer at Holy Rosary Cathedral (2:01).
