The key moments of Donald Trump's inauguration day
Updated
Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 45th President of the United States.
Here are the key moments from inauguration day as captured by photographers on the ground.
President Obama invited the Trumps to the White House for tea before the incoming and outgoing presidents travel to the swearing-in ceremony together.
Hillary Clinton tweeted "I'm here today to honor our democracy & its enduring values. I will never stop believing in our country & its future."
Finally the time came for Donald Trump to step forward and take the oath of office, with Chief Justice John Roberts swearing in him and his Vice-President, Mike Pence.
President Trump then stepped up to the lectern to deliver his inaugural address. He made a bunch of wide ranging promises during the 16 minute speech.
It was then time for Barack Obama and Joe Biden to leave the Capitol. The new President and Vice-President followed tradition and escorted their predecessors to Marine One.
Last on the agenda was the inaugural parade to the White House, before the President and First Lady left for a series of inaugural balls to mark the occasion.
