Mensink risks arrest after no show

Former director of Queensland Nickel, Clive Mensink, fails to show up at the federal court to answer questions about the collapse of the company. Nine News

Mr Palmer's nephew, Clive Mensink, was the sole registered director of Queensland Nickel before it collapsed, but he's been overseas for nine months and has failed to comply with two court orders to return home for a court grilling by liquidators.

Liquidators will on Thursday seek an arrest warrant for Mr Mensink.

Justice Dowsett has mused he might be better off at home, given his apparent medical problems.

"It might be better if he came home, mightn't it?" Justice Dowsett said.

"Wouldn't he be better off coming home?"

Earlier, the court was told Mr Mensink had medical advice from the Boston Medical Centre to support his claim to have a medical condition that was disabling to him.

"We're dealing with a man who is said to have clinical depression and anxiety," Mr Mensink's barrister Alex Nelson told the court.

The hearing continues.
