Turkey (Listeni/ˈtɜr.ki/; Turkish: Türkiye, pronounced [tyrkije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyeti, pronounced [tyrkije d͡ʒumhurijeti] ( listen)), is a contiguous transcontinental parliamentary republic, with its smaller part in Southeastern Europe and its larger part in Western Asia (i.e. the Balkans and Anatolia, respectively). Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. The Mediterranean Sea is to the south; the Aegean Sea to the west; and the Black Sea to the north. The Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia.[9] Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.[10]
Turkey has been inhabited since the paleolithic age,[11] including various Ancient Anatolian civilizations, Aeolian and Ionian Greeks, Thracians and Persians.[12][13][14] After
Alexander the Great's conquest, the area was Hellenized, which continued with the Roman rule and the transition into the Byzantine Empire.[13][15] The Seljuk Turks began migrating into the area in the 11th century, starting the process of Turkification, which was greatly accelerated by the Seljuk victory over the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.[16] The Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm ruled Anatolia until the Mongol invasion in 1243, upon which it disintegrated into several small Turkish beyliks.[17]
Starting from the late 13th century, the Ottomans united Anatolia and created an empire encompassing much of Southeastern Europe, Western Asia and North Africa, becoming a major power in Eurasia and Africa during the early modern period. The empire reached the peak of its power between the 15th and 17th centuries, especially during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent (r. 1520–1566). After the second Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1683 and the end of the Great Turkish War in 1699, the Ottoman Empire entered a long period of decline. The Tanzimat reforms of the 19th century, which aimed to modernize the Ottoman state, proved to be inadequate in most fields, and failed to stop the dissolution of the empire.[18] The Ottoman Empire entered World War I (1914–1918) on the side of the Central Powers and was ultimately defeated.

Indus River in Kharmang District, Pakistan.
The Indus River (locally called Sindhu) is one of the longest rivers in Asia. Originating in the Tibetan Plateau in the vicinity of Lake Manasarovar, the river runs a course through the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, India, towards the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan and the Hindukush ranges, and then flows in a southerly direction along the entire length of Pakistan to merge into the Arabian Sea near the port city of Karachi in Sindh.[1][2] It is the longest river and national river of Pakistan.[3]
The river has a total drainage area exceeding 1,165,000 km2 (450,000 sq mi). Its estimated annual flow stands at around 243 km3 (58 cu mi), twice that of the Nile River and three times that of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers combined, making it one of the largest rivers in the world in terms of annual flow.[4] The Zanskar is its left bank tributary in Ladakh. In the plains, its left bank tributary is the Panjnad which itself has five major tributaries, namely, the Chenab, Jhelum, the Ravi, the Beas, and the Sutlej. Its principal right bank tributaries are the Shyok, the Gilgit, the Kabul, the Gomal, and the Kurram. Beginning in a mountain spring and fed with glaciers and rivers in the Himalayas, the river supports ecosystems of temperate forests, plains and arid countryside.
The northern part of the Indus Valley, with its tributaries, forms the Punjab region, while the lower course of the Indus is known as Sindh and ends in a large delta. The river has historically been important to many cultures of the region. The 3rd millennium BC saw the rise of a major urban civilization of the Bronze Age. During the 2nd millennium BC, the Punjab region was mentioned in the hymns of the Hindu Rigveda as Sapta Sindhu and the Zoroastrian Avesta as Hapta Hindu (both terms meaning "seven rivers"). Early historical kingdoms that arose in the Indus Valley include Gandhāra, and the Ror dynasty of Sauvīra. The Indus River came into the knowledge of the West early in the Classical Period, when King Darius of Persia sent his Greek subject Scylax of Caryanda to explore the river, ca. 515

Juventus Football Club S.p.A. (from Latin iuventūs, "youth"; Italian pronunciation: [juˈvɛntus]), colloquially known as Juve (pronounced [ˈjuːve]),[4] is a professional Italian association football club based in Turin, Piedmont. Founded in 1897 as Sport-Club Juventus by a group of young Torinese students,[2] among them, who was their first president, Eugenio Canfari, and his brother Enrico, author of the company's historical memory;[5][6][7] they have been managed by the industrial Agnelli family since 1923, which constitutes the oldest sporting partnership in Italy, thus making Juventus the first professional club in the country.[8][9] The club is the third oldest of its kind in the country and has spent the majority of its history, with the exception of the 2006–07 season, in the top flight First Division (known as Serie A since 1929).
Over time, the club has become a symbol of the nation's Italianità ("Italianness"),[10][11][12] due to their tradition of success, some of which have had a significant impact in Italian society, especially in the 1930s and the first post-war decade;[13] and the ideological politics and socio-economic origin of the club's sympathisers.[14] This is reflected, among others, in the club's contribution to the national team, uninterrupted since the second half of the 1920s and recognised as one of the most influential in international football, having performed a decisive role in the World Cup triumphs of 1934, 1982 and 2006.[15][16] The club's fan base is larger than any other Italian football club and is one of the largest worldwide. Support for Juventus is widespread throughout the country and abroad, mainly in countries with a significant presence of Italian immigrants.[17][18]
Juventus is historically the most successful club in Italian football and one of the most laureated and important globally.[19][20][21] Overall, they have won sixty-one official titles on the national and international stage, more than any other Italian club: a record thirty-two official league titles, a record eleven Coppa Italia titles, a record seven Supercoppa Italiana titles, and, with eleven titles in confederation and inter-confederation competitions (two Intercontinental Cups, two European Champion Clubs' Cup/UEFA Champions Leagues, one European Cup Winners' Cup, three UEFA Cups, one UEFA Intertoto Cup and two UEFA Super Cups) the club ranks fourth in Europe and eighth in the world with the most trophies won.[22]
In 1985, under the management of Giovanni Trapattoni, who led the Torinese team to thirteen official trophies in ten years until 1986, including six league titles and five international titles; Juventus became the first club in the history of European football to have won all three major competitions organised by the Union of European Football Associations: the European Champions' Cup, the (now-defunct) Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Cup (the first Italian and Southern European side to win the tournament).[23][24][25] After their triumph in the Intercontinental Cup the same year, the club also became the first in football history—and remains the only one at present—to have won all possible official continental competitions and the world title.[26][27][28] According to the all-time ranking published in 2009 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, an organisation recognised by FIFA, based on clubs' performance in international competitions, Juventus were Italy's best club and second in Europe of the 20th century.[21]

It is the 32nd Disney animated feature film, and the fifth animated film produced during a period known as the Disney Renaissance. The Lion King was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, and has a screenplay credited to Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. Its original songs were written by composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, with a score by Hans Zimmer. The film features an ensemble voice cast that includes Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Moira Kelly, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Rowan Atkinson, Robert Guillaume, Madge Sinclair (in her last film role), Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, and Jim Cummings. The story takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa and was influenced by the Biblical stories of Joseph and Moses, and William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

The Lion King tells the story of Simba (Swahili for lion),[3] a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands; however, after Simba's paternal uncle Scar murders Mufasa, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile. After growing up in the company of the carefree outcasts Timon and Pumbaa, Simba receives valuable perspective from his childhood friend, Nala, and his shaman, Rafiki, before returning to challenge Scar to end his tyranny and take his place in the Circle of Life as the rightful King.
Development of The Lion King began in 1988 during a meeting between Jeffrey Katzenberg, Roy E. Disney, and Peter Schneider while promoting Oliver & Company in Europe. Thomas M. Disch wrote a film treatment, and Woolverton developed the first scripts, while George Scribner was signed on as director, being later joined by Allers. Production began in 1991 concurrently with Pocahontas, which wound up attracting many of Disney's top animators. Some time after the staff traveled to Hell's Gate National Park in Kenya to research the film's setting and animals, Scribner left production, disagreeing with the decision to turn the film into a musical, and was replaced by Minkoff. When Hahn joined the project, he was dissatisfied with the script and the story was promptly rewritten. Nearly 20 minutes of animation sequences were produced at the Disney-MGM Studios theme park in Florida. Computer animation was also used in several scenes, most notably in the wildebeest stampede sequence.
The Lion King was released on June 15, 1994, to a positive reaction from critics, who praised the film for its music, story, themes, and animation. With an initial worldwide gross of $766 million, it finished its theatrical run as the highest-grossing release of 1994, the highest-grossing animated film and the second-highest-grossing film of all time. It is also the highest-grossing traditionally animated film of all time, as well as the best-selling film on home video, having sold over 30 million VHS tapes. On release, the film drew some controversy in Japan for its similarities to Osamu Tezuka's 1960s anime series Kimba the White Lion. The Lion King garnered two

Fan Ling Station - Hok Tau Reservoir and Lau Shui Heung Reservoir - Luk Keng - Tai Po Market Station. Very hot and extremly exhausted. We had a very late lunch at around 4 pm. The two reservoirs are not allowed to bring bicycle inside. We locked our bikes at the border of the reservoirs area and walked inside to take photos. No water and no food supply even hardly find trash bins on those two reservoirs.

BIRTHDAY ON THE AIR (BOTA) 2016 WRAP-UP IN THE CANARY ISLANDS, EA8BH
The OH2BH 70th Birthday Anniversary tour was to include ten (10) stops. They’ve taken Martti to the countries and islands that once affected him greatly along his road to becoming such a well-known figure in the DX and Contest communities. But he missed one of them. EA8BH, the Canary Islands will now be aired post festum in the ARRL DX Contest, March 4–5, 2017, this coming weekend.
EA8BH in the Canary Islands was Martti’s second home for the entire 1990’s with a state-of-the-art station, advanced automation, and beaming in multiple directions; tens of thousands of QSOs were made from that site as EA8EA and EA8BH in a shared investment with his lifelong friend, Ville, OH2MM/PY2ZEA.
The EA8BH CQWW CW/SSB world records made by Jeff, N5TJ, twenty years ago are still the unbeatable targets of today’s efforts. Many of Martti’s friends have visited and operated EA8BH together with him or alone under his hosting. Those years were greatly supported by Manolo, EA8ZS and this visit is to particularly acknowledge his support and friendship!
Now the Canary Islands branch of URE, the Spanish Amateur Radio Society, will host Martti and Leena (OH2BE) as they return to their former dreamland. You can complete your BOTA hunt with EA8BH. The tenth (10) birthday dinner in Las Palmas will nicely finish up this BOTA activity.
The list of 2016 BOTA events is as follows – contacts with these ten (10) stops give you 5 points each, while working OH2BH/OH70BH during 2016 adds 25 points to your point account. There is a surprise prize for the winner and a signed certificate for high scorers.
1: CU2KG/CR2X 2: CT3BH
3: OH0B 4: OJ0B
5: ZA/OH2BH 6: Z68BH/Z60A
7: V26BH 8: J70BH
9: OF9X 10: EA8BH (2017)
Martti wants to thank those great friends who have been involved in getting multiple location BOTA conducted with style:
CU2CE, CU2DX, CU2BV, CT3EE, CT3FU, CT3FJ, DJ2YA, DL5AXX, EA8RM, ES2RR, OZ1IKY, PB2T, J73GJ, J73LC, N3OC, K1LI, K1TO, N3OC, K5KG, N7NG, S56A, ZA1H, Z61DX, Z62FB, Z61VB, S56A, ZA1H, Z61DX, Z62FB, Z61VB, OH0XX, OH2MM, OH2PM, OH2TA, OH2UA, OH3WS, OH6KN, OH6KZP, OG2M, Twelve (12) OF9X elves, URE Canary Isl.; Finnish Light House Society (FLS) and others.
Thank you for making this tour one to be remembered.

What New Navy Plebes Go Through On Their First Day At Annapolis
We got an inside look at what it's like on the first day for new freshmen, known as "Plebes," at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Induction Day, or "I-Day," marks the beginning of "Plebe Summer," a challenging six-week basic training program all future midshipmen are required to complete.
UPDATE: In the video, we list Cmdr. Beth Regoli’s title as the Commandant of Midshipmen. However, her correct title is Officer in Charge of Plebe Summer. We regret the error.

In this history documentary we explore the history of the US Navy. We begin in the colonial period of British rule where most of the coastal defenses were undertaken by jerry-rigged sloops and schooners while the Royal Navy handled the larger engagements. With the outbreak of the American Revolution however the Continental Congress was forced to create its own Continental Navy. This was composed of a small number of small frigates while the bulk of the American fleet actually consisted of privateers. The US fleet managed to score some wins at sea but it was the assistance of the French Navy which helped turn the tides of war. After the revolution, the new but bankrupt United States was forced to disband its navy. This had the effect of leaving it incredibly vulnerable. Over the following decades, the US Navy would slowly invest in rebuilding its fleet to combat threats from the Barbary Pirates and others who preyed on American shipping. The War of 1812 with the British saw the US score some early wins but saw it be utterly dominated at sea when the Royal Navy sailed in with a strong fleet that had just recently won the Battle of Trafalgar. The US Navy was expanded as a result of this embarrassment but it would be the conflict of the US Civil War which truly brought about a renaissance for American Fleet. During the conflict, the northern strategy at sea involved a blockade of the south which prompted an arms race between the Union Navy and the Confederate Navy. Ironclads and steam ships emerged from this evolutionary process and came dominate the waves. By the end of the war, the US Navy was the second largest in the world after the Royal Navy. The post war years however saw a decline in the Navy that would only be turned around with renewed conflict during the Spanish-American war. From this point on, the United States Navy was recognized as being critical to United States foreign policy. President Roosevelt would overseen it's renovation with the construction of the Great White Fleet which sailed around the world. However new technologies like the HMS Dreadnought risked making all contemporary warships obsolete. World War 1 came soon after and poured gasoline on the fire of innovation. Now the battle at sea extended to the air above the waves and the depths below it with the deployment of planes and submarines. Coming out of the First World War, the US Navy was recognized as an equal to the Royal Navy. The interwar years saw more funds poured into the American Fleet including the construction of new aircraft carriers. Word War 2 would see a massive overhaul of the US Navy as it battled the Imperial Japanese Navy across the Pacific. This conflict and the Cold War that followed solidified the power of the US Fleet and led it to become the force it is today.
