Steve O'Keefe

Stephen Norman John O'Keefe (born 9 December 1984 in Malaysia) is an Australian cricketer and current captain of the New South Wales Sheffield Shield team.

Career

O'Keefe made his First-Class debut for New South Wales against Tasmania in November 2005. O'Keefe took 2 wickets and scored 10 runs on debut. His first scoring shot was a six.

O'Keefe was called up to the Australian Test team to replace the injured Nathan Hauritz for the series against Pakistan in England, but did not play in the Tests. He made his Twenty20 international debut during the England tour.

2010 saw Stephen O'Keefe as a crucial member of the NSW Blues squads in all forms of cricket. On the eve of the 2010 Ashes series O'Keefe performed impressively taking 4/88 against a full strength English batting line up. These figures would remain the best by an Australian spinner all summer. He also top scored with the bat scoring 66 runs.

The Kochi Tuskers Kerala picked him up at the Indian Premier League auction for $20,000. In Sydney Grade Cricket he plays for Manly Warringah, although he originally played for Hawkesbury.

Conor McGregor

Conor Anthony McGregor (born 14 July 1988) is an Irish mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight and lightweight divisions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is the current UFC Featherweight Champion and the former Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight champion. As of 14 December 2015, he is No. 3 in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings and ranked as the No. 1 featherweight and No. 5 pound-for-pound fighter in the world by Sherdog. He is currently on a 15-fight win streak, 14 of which have not made it past the second round.

Early life

McGregor was born in Dublin, Ireland. He was raised in the South Dublin suburb of Crumlin and attended a Gaelscoil and Gaelcholáiste at both primary and at secondary level in Coláiste de hÍde in Tallaght where he also developed his passion for sport playing association football. In his youth, he played football for Lourdes Celtic Football Club and supported Manchester United in the English Premier League.

In 2006, McGregor moved with his family to Lucan in west Dublin, attending Gaelcholáiste Coláiste Cois Life. Following that, he commenced a plumbing apprenticeship. While in Lucan, he began sparring with future Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Tom Egan who taught McGregor how to grapple and ignited his passion for mixed martial arts. McGregor's walking weight is around 170 lbs.

Cage Warriors

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship or CWFC is a mixed martial arts promotion, based in London. Cage Warriors was established in 2001 and staged its first MMA event in London in July, 2002. Currently it has scheduled events in Chechnya, Baghdad and Beirut.

Many of the biggest stars in MMA have made their names under the Cage Warriors banner, including Conor McGregor and Michael Bisping. CWFC are one of the few top promotions to take their events abroad, travelling throughout countries in Europe, North America and the Middle East. CWFC staged 26 events across 12 different countries in 2012 and 2013.

History

Cage Warriors was originally founded by Dougie Truman back in 2001, the first event titled 'Armageddon', at which notable fighters like Jean Silva, Rosi Sexton, Matt Ewin and Paul Jenkins were victorious, was staged on July 27 of that year.

Irishman Graham Boylan assumed control of Cage Warriors in 2010 and has successfully set about returning the promotion to the forefront of MMA in Europe, as well as expanding internationally with shows in Ireland, Russia, Ukraine, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Bahrain. Ian Dean is Cage Warriors' well-known matchmaker, while Paul Dollery is the promotion's Director of Media and Operations. The Cage Warriors head office is located in London.
